Hey everyone,
For the first time *ever* a Car I have owned passed it's MoT first time!!
I took it to the local Council Test Centre this time around and was relieved that it only costed £54.80.
I have spent the last few days checking a few things - made sure my seat belts were free of damage, made sure the retention mechanisms were working well, before checking the steering wheel, door mirrors and door locks.
After this I took a good look around the vehicle and found out that a reverse light was dim - I subsequently found out that one bulb was 24v instead of 12v. Heaven knows how that got there. I also replaced the dead registration lamp from my Escort and Corsa spares.
Today, I checked all the tyres, made sure the bearings were good - packed them with new grease as the grease was looking a bit old and renewed the split pins before ensuring the suspension components were free of damage, corrosion and leaks.
So for £650, an oil & oil filter change and 2 new belts, my Corsa has done very well indeed!
I had three advisories - there is some corrosion on the inner sill (fix that with angle grinder and rust convertor) some corrosion on the master cylinder/servo (a design flaw apparently) and one of my exhaust mounts has failed.
I got a couple of new exhaust mounts this morning (didn't get a chance to fit them before the MoT as the exhaust was too hot) which were only a few quid. Once it all cools down I can get that sorted as well as sorting the corrosion out.
I think it will be good for another MoT as long as I get those bits sorted and I keep on top of the oil & filter change.
Well happy
Got my Spitfire this April to MoT, so that will be interesting!
Kind regards,

Kind regards,

Just booked mine in for it's MOT, along with a huge check-up by the top mechanic. I shudder to think of the amount of things they'll probably find wrong with it.....
