Corsa dial's all reading zero while driving?

Ok, i admit it, my mum has a vauxhall corsa on an 03 plate

She just told me over the phone that when she went out earlier that everything except the mileage reading was all showing up as zero (speedo/fuel gauge etc etc) during her 20 min drive.

Then when she got in the car again some 30 minutes later it had all returned to normal no problems and was fine for her 20 min drive back.

Any ideas what the problem is/was?

It'll be an electrical issue, a bonus of this might be that the mileage doesn't increase when it does this. I covered about 2,000 miles in my old Uno with a broken speedo cable.

I had a similar problem on my Focus. It turned out to be the speed sensor.

Surely a speed sensor wouldn't cause the other dials such as the fuel gauge to read 0 ? rev counter 0? etc

My old Vectra did that just before the Alternator/regulator died

Yea, dials are often go a bit funky when voltage gets low.

When my alternator wasn't securely wired my dials would flap about like mad.

This happened to a mates Fiat Bravo once, check the fuses. His was a blown fuse.

I had this once, they all started working next time I started the car and were fine from then on
