Corsa VXR

i really liked the car when i drove at the VXR day at Brands Hatch, felt at home cos its the same size as my car (im a relatively new driver!).

However i could never put down 13-14k on a corsa, theres a lot more out there for that money that would be miles better (imo of corse).

for that sort of money id be looking at a Focus ST (2nd hand)

Yeah I really liked the ones I drove at Brands Hatch, my favourite car of the range. Felt surprisingly solid with in m y view a decent interior too.

They look absolutely rank. Boy racers wet dream.

I'd certainly look at the Focus ST over them. In fact, for £14k there are some used Astra VXR's you can get.

And FFS, don't get garage finance. Get a bank loan, money you save will offset the massive depriciation you'll probably get ;)

I like the new Corsa VXR. It may well be a boy racers wet dream as said above, but most boy racers can't afford one yet :p
I think it looks nice, and sounds like it goes well too. However, I'm yet to see one on the road, just seen it in a few dealers so far..

They are nice little cars and suprisingly well built for what is effectively a city hatch.

One thing about them though is that in the flesh (out on the road) they look like a Astra VXR that has shrunk in the wash.

For the money definately consider alternatives.

Example wise my 3.2 Audi A3 (05 plate) was cheaper than a new Corsa VXR and for me its miles better.

Well I would never buy a new car and I certainly couldn't spend five figures on a small Vauxhall hatch, so I'm not really one to offer an opinion on your choice. My money would go on something more like this, but I'm after something different from my cars than you:

And if I was a hot hatch man then I'd be looking at a few years old S3, R32 or similar.

*edit* actually I've changed my mind and if I were young and into sporty looking cars, I think my money would go on a Z4 3.0 which I didn't realise were the same price as a new Corsa:

However, the one thing useful thing I can probably add is that if you're financing any of it then get something better than 7% APR which should be easily achievable with a bank loan and save you £20 a month.

I like the Corsa VXR, but how ever much I like Vauxhalls in general they do not make sense as a new buy. Try and pick one up in a year or two at a bargain price and it will make a nice motor.

Corsa VXR is far from a bad car.

It's also far from getting a finance package to buy new. £5k deposit and £200 a month for years and years?

£5k and £0 a month gets you a Clio 172.

Octavia vRS for 5k imo.

Wasn't that impressed when my sister had her st170, and the octavia is better put together than the 172 and has more tuning potential!

Very impressive cars, quick in a straight line. I'd describe the handling as "fun" rather than using words like "good".

But seriously, £5k now AND £200 a month for 4 years. That means in 4 years you'll have paid out £14,600, and have a car worth £7k(ish).

Not worth it imo.

How come?

Didn't feel all that quick, and I wasn't all that impressed with the interior.

Also it doesn't look THAT much different from normal focai which are fairly common.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they are a solid car- just not quite my cup of tea! :)

Neither does the Octavia vRS.

Not that many octavias, or VRS's down here in Cornwall.

Also I think that the changes the VRS has to the standard octavia make a bigger difference.

If I looked at a focus i'd have to have a second look to see if it was a st170... if you look at a vRS you know it's one straight away in my opinion :)

Thats only becuase you are an Octavia Enthusiast - the Octavia just has different wheels, a little lip thingy on the bottom of the bumper and a spoiler doesnt it?

Focus ST170 has different front lights, front bumper, rear bumper and 17" wheels.
