Have Corsair Rmx PSUs dropped in quality recently? I've seen a few posts recently (in other forums) of them going pop within a few weeks. I was away to purchase the same PSU but now reconsidering.

Reviews are going to be interesting. I wonder if they have cheaped out and changed OEM's like they have for the new RMe series?

Concerning if they've went that way across the line, it means the only genuinely reliable unit would be the Shift unless they've ghost changed OEM?

The Shift has limited case compatibility to boot.

This is why I argue against brand loyalty, you need to look into components on a case by case basis.

The reviews i have seen on the Corsair RM1000x have been pretty positive, and it is been well reviewed by cybernetics. Obviously that gives you little info of longevity, but it's a new product, so not many should be going pop.

May I ask which outlets you've seen those reviews for? It's a genuine interest on my end, I'm not trying to call you out by any measure. Dates and links would be grand.

I've seen a few complaints from relatively trusted sources lately regarding current RMx and it makes me wonder if Corsair has changed OEM between launch and now.

I can see the Cybernetics review showing CWT as of March 2024.

I had only saved one, actually (HWBusters), but I found two more. I'm not sure how high a quality review they are. You will likely know more than I do. Generally positive, but you and others are sharing a slightly different picture on the ground. It was my pick for if I need to upgrade my PSU for the 5090, but maybe I should think again....

Thanks bud, will give them a read.

It was going to my go to after how well the previous RMx was received. I think I'll look elsewhere though.

Mine didn't go pop it just wouldn't restart PC unless you turned it off at the wall or switch at back of psu the old psu has no issues so sent it back

Thanks. I was thinking an ATX 3.1 PSU due to 12v-2x6, but i need to remind myself of the differences and whether it is actually needed.
Any alternative suggestions for a 1000-1200w ATX 3.1 PSU that isn't a platinum/titanium model costing bonkers money?
This is what I'm also thinking, but still deciding. Is the latest even needed but also no further on deciding. I'm in no rush as I've put up with my coil whine for 6 years so far.
I created a separate thread for recommendations so feel free to hop in.
