Decided to buy a new case for my new alderlake setup but it got me thinking about setup and placement of things - never really bothered before, just made things as neat as possible and left it as is.

The setup it is going to house is:

12700k
Asus strix z690-A board
Evga 1080 FE
Corsair H150i pro AIO

Now in my current pc the AIO is mounted in the roof of the case but I believe with the 5000d I can fit to the front or to the roof.

Are there any positives or negatives to housing it in the front or roof of the case?

If I place it in the front or roof is it a good idea to place an additional three fans in the other location?

Or is it just a case of it doesn't matter, stick the rad wherever it is easier for it to live?

Any advice welcome.

Regards,

Matt

Fans in the front with the air flow plastic part fitted in the bottom and rad at the top

Thanks for that, probably worrying over nothing but thought I'd ask.

Case had to go back unfortunately, big scratch in the window, replacement on its way - stuck with the same case hopefully this one will be fine.

Had to return case as it was scratched, so am looking for a case with good airflow, that can fit 360 or 420 radiator and if possible in white what would you recommend?

Thicker AIO, like the Arctic Freezer, depending on the motherboard's heatsink would require the fans to be mounted outside, if installing on the top, but the Corsair will be fine. Had one installed and the top, as exhaust, is the best option. Front fans as intake, and keeping the "cowl" which is in front of the side fans, intake at very low speed will bathe the motherboard with cool air. High rpm will generate a lot of unnecessary noise.
I really liked the quality of the case, but the lack of bottom intake makes very hard for the 500D Airflow to perform (GPU-wise) on par with other cases, like the O11 XL or the Torrent.
At the moment using the Torrent, but the only would be if using an AIO, as I always use AIO on top as exhaust, as the air inside the case, despite being few Celsius warmer than ambient, won't limit (at least not in 99% of the normal cases) the CPU performance.
The Torrent is a beast for air, doable with water/AIO, but I wouldn't bother, I would use the O11XL any day for water/AIO.
On air, as quiet as water, and the only noticeable noise under load would be the GPU, as the Dark Rock Pro 4 is dead quiet.
