corsair 540 and res placement

hi

i am going to put this together tomorrow, wheres the best place to mount my res and pump combo, i have the proton 170 xspc one. i have one 240 mm rad which i was going to place at the front.

i was going to run tube from res>cpu>rad>T valve at bottom to add drainage>res. i thought a round circulation would be good, res and pump at rear of case horizontally or would the rad be better at top and res/pump at front of case and t bar inbetween the pump and cpu tube?

You can mount a photon res parallel to the PCI brackets at the rear of the case as seen in this pic.

To mount it in the back you could maybe get away with mounting it horizontally to the roof of the case,you would need to strip out the ODD bays and the ssd cage for sure tho

It all depends what GPU you have. I have a 780ti classified and its big in every way, there is literally now where in the main chamber to mount it sadly. Had to mount it to above the PSU in the end. I have a EK 140 revo pwm combo.

could i not mount in the front of the case, i want to use the hdd cages in the base?

i have a GTX 970 EVGA card

the proton won;t fit at the back as its an all in one unit. do i need to buy a different res/pump to fit this case? love the look of the proton. can't fit it in the front as the fitting do not match, loathed to start hacking it to bits.

I'm currently building mine mate and like you I want a tube res in the main compartment.

I'm going for a D5 with Alphacool top placed ontop of the ssd drives in the back compartment.

If you look at the pic that was linked I'm going to put my res in horizontally where the flow meter is sited. Ive mostly got the layout sorted now I'm just waiting the rest of my tubing to arrive then I could send you a pic if you like

Yes I am going to use the one I have now as it fits nicely and when our if I get agpu loop I'll upgrade it all then. I am returning my proton
