Corsair 540 White - 2nd Built with previous parts

I updated the basket but my PSU is not the correct one, also a few pictures before i add the hue led lights. Could use some input on the side fan set up and whether to get black and red braided cables or all white braided cables or white and black

Really nice build, the 540 is a nice case. I built my first PC using the Corsair 500R, but I hated the mesh so replaced it with acrylic plastic so I atleast have a 'window', but I'm a big fan of big window panel on this case. Can I ask, what made you choose the 540 over the cases that's out there right now???

Well my previous built was a bitfenix ronin case and imo i still believe this is the best case at prices below £70 but my case got damaged (got 2 kids who like to damage my things!) so i needed a replacement and the case that i truly wanted was Phanteks Enthoo Pro Mid Tower Enthusiast Case with Window which i strongly believe this will be the best case for a long time especially at £89.99 but because it still on pre-order and by the looks of it probably wont even be here in july and i could not wait that long the only other good case that i could think off that has a side window (which im a big fan of) and easy to built with excellent air flow was the 540 and to be honest i have no complains about it apart from maybe the bottom part of the case - currently you can only add the SSDs there but i think that couldve been removable and add an option to for instance mount fans.

But if you get this case:

Its very good for cable management
looks
excellent cooling
easy to built in

negatives:
cant think of much apart from lack of creativity on bottom part of the case

I agree with your points pipson. The one thing I don't like about the case is the way the storage for HD/SSD is, you got so much room, but you can only put 2x3.5 HD, they could have done the bottom part better. Everything is I really like, the cable management, airflow/cooling ect, but the bottom of the case. I did read that you can mod it to add more drives. With your build, were you happy with the storage, did you have to do any modding to get around the fact you can only put 2x3.5?? I am not going to update my computer for few years so I am sticking with my 500R, but whenever Corsair updates the 540 case, I do hope they take on negative criticism and do something about it.

i only currently have 120gb ssd and 250gb ssd and so far i have 97gb free on main and 169gb free on the other so as for now i have enough storage and i can never see myself ever again getting an HD. So as far as space for storage, ive used the 2 at the front and there is plenty at the back. IF i even come close to running out of space, my next one will either be a 250gb ssd or 512gb. No more HDs for me!

with the top fan filters are you not keeping dust in? building it up in the rad? i thought you never put filters on exhaust fans? maybe im completely wrong :)

You are right, you only need it if the fans are pulling air into the case. By putting the filters there you'll only be restricting your airflow out of your case and trapping the heat in.

I have removed it now guys, thank you for the advice.

Im considering moving into watercooling to max my crosshair v formula-z and fx8350 as i feel atm my h100 is holding me back. Any ideas on what i should get? so a sort of spec me? only for CPU tho. cant see the need for the GPU

Give us a budget and we can work with that. For a cpu only loop you only really need a 240 rad max, anything more and the gains will be minimal.

Well i do want a 240 radiator and whatever else is needed for it.

Im not really aware of the prices. So maybe you could do 2 or 3 specs? 1 cheapest / 2 mid range / 3 expensive?

I think if you're just starting out, something like this would do nicely. It comes with clear instructions so you basically can't mess up!

However if you want custom and budget, something like this would be better.

1 x Mayhems Ultra Pure H2O Watercooling Fluid 1L Mayhems Ultra Pure H2O Watercooling Fluid 1L £4.99

Total : £194.34

I've not included any fans, incase you have some you can use. The radiator is fairly low FPI so a low Static pressure fan will still be able to push air through that quite easily.

Nice find! Just have to put some thought when I actually need to go water cooling. As I currently set my overclock to default had it around 4.7/4.8ghz and I wasn't happy with the temps switched back to default and at max CPU usage max I saw was 40c and for what I'm currently playing and doin on the PC can't see the benefit of over clocking my cpu

I didn't need to overclock either but thought why not if i've got a K series CPU might as well make the most of it.

Plus i find generally i get better minimum FPS with a decent overclock over stock clocks.
