Corsair 650w overkill for this?

Hi,
My old setup's five years old so building a new system. This is what I'm looking to build now:

E2180 to 3+Ghz
2x2gb DDR2
Asus P5Q-E mobo
ATI HD 4850 video
Digital TV Card
74gb SATA Raptor
2x80gb SATA drives in RAID
1x250gb SATA
1 IDE optical

I'm hoping to add a Bluray drive to that soon. Eventually, I want to upgrade the cpu to an overclocked quadcore but I'm not likely to change the GPU.

Low noise, reliability and efficiency are important to me. I've found the reviews on SilentPC helpful and feel happy with the Corsair PSU's.

OcUK don't sell the cheaper 500w Corsairs so I'm looking at:
Corsair VX 450W at £46.99
Corsair TX 650W at £64.61

My PC is used a lot and I don't want to change my PSU for a very long time so I'm leaning towards the 650w. Is that overkill?

My old Antec Trupower 380w PSU died taking the mobo with it so I think I'll give Antec a miss this time around but how reliable are OCZ and Enermax? The OCZ StealthXStream 500w looks quite a saving at £43.46 but would I be better going for the VX 450W instead?

Netherlands? Hmm, I thought the first year'd be covered by OcUK? I think you get a 5 year warranty with Corsair so then I'd have to send it to Holland.

That's better than 1 year of UK RMA and then nothing afterward. Yeah?

I have the Crsair TX650w and it works fine and yes has a long warranty.

Though all pc components I now order, I will ensure that there is a UK RMA service available as apposed to getting a 5yr warranty psu that i have to send half way around the world at MY expense!

My next psu will be from a UK based supplier.

Corsair has announced it will no longer be necessary for customers in the EU/UK regions to return RMA items to the Corsair headquarters in the United States for RMA service.

Today, an array of manufacturers provide high-end memory and power supply solutions, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to differentiate between them. With so many brands offering high-end products at lower than ever prices, how do we decide which to choose?

Here at *****, we're of the belief that customer support and product bundles are an ever-growing factor. In terms of graphics cards, a high-quality bundled game can be enough to entice many customers.

In Corsair's case, and on the power supply front, customer support can be all-important and Corsair's EU/UK RMA processing service will be welcome news to many consumers.

I know its off topic, but why have you got 1 74gb raptor, 2x 80GB hard drives in a raid and then 250GB? Are some of these from your last system?

I've got a corsair 620 - which is slightly different as its made by different company and is the more expensive one, but I've had not problems with it and it is a fantastic PSU, however I've never needed anywhere near 600 Watts for my rig except when I had 2x 800GTX's in. So a 650 Watt might be a bit high.

Just check the ampage on the 12+ volt rails. You don't to cut down and find that it can't support your new gfx.

Corsair is in almere netherlands I had to rma my hx520 recently cheapest postage I found was £17 sent it on a tuesday they received it on thursday got my replacement back on the tuesday a brand new sealed unit.
Post office would cost you £28 to send a power supply to holland but luckily we have interparcel and parcel2go.
The whole of europe is the netherlands for corsairs rma they have no plans to make a uk address and disturbingly more and more manu are closing uk rma and moving to holland/germany.

They are indeed. I'm using the 74gb as my main drive and the 250gb for media. I've been given the 2x80gb but can't use them at the moment as my NF7-S only takes 2 SATA drives.

I'm not sure whether I will raid them or not but I put it up for the sake of power calculations.

C64 - Ouch! I read up on your plight. Are you going to RMA the replacement as well?

thats correct, due to the large volume of failure on corsair products as of late they have had to open up more RMA centers. lucky for us they are opening on in the uk. (dunno if thats lucky or not though).

As C64 experienced for himself, the UK RMA is in NL (better than US but not by a lot).

Troll much? :p

I notice this review shows OCZ using 85c capacitors. Corsair are using 105c capacitors so it looks like better components with Corsair.
The quality of the cap is very important, not so much the rating. Cheap caps tend to die to heat quickly, as do caps chosen inappropriately and placed in a position that is not well ventilated.

Corsair pretty much exclusively use quality Japanese-made caps in their PSUs.
