use themin general office machines for client builds. most taxing system one is used in is a security camera surveillance system, q6600, 4gig ddr3, p45t gigabyte board couple of mechanical drives and 16 camera capture card.
no issues with these power supplies at all, other than the 1 that died after about 2 hours of use, was running linpak on a e5300 system for office use.
ya do get the odd and dodgey one i guess. far better than the old qtec and hiper psu's iv encountered in the field. for cheapo system builds i will carry on recommending these seasonic built corsair 400w units till something better comes in at this price point.
That's a pretty glowing recommendation. I've found that most PSUs that arrive faulty fail very quickly as you experienced. Beyond that, good quality units will go for a long time. It's the cheap ones that fail after a year to a few years use on the most part. There are always exceptions though.
Don't you even dare mention Q-Tec in this thread!

But seriously, do steer clear of cheap units folks, I can't even remember how many times I've given that advice here on OcUK, and it's still true now. If you have any doubt, just ask on the forums and there's plenty of people willing to recommend a good unit for your needs.
