I did have crossfire 5850 and with prime and Win Mark 06 running my system pulled 430w.

thats generally true with most/all PSU's

the more power u draw the more they heat up, and the more the fan needs to spin to cool it

can this harm the psu and what sort of things could happen if this goes on for lets say 2-3 years?

A quality brand should be able to run without problems, worst cased the psu should should shut it's self down safely.
