It would help if you told us your spec. Generally though the G2 range is a much better quality psu but if you already have the CX750M I can't see any reason to replace it for a G2 750w psu. It's not as if you will get any performance gain or anything.
The G2's are top quality units. They are built by Superflower and are based on their own Leadex Gold platform but have a different fan, longer warranty and no tacky led's. The 550w G2 would be more than enough for your pc. If you wanted to crossfire that RX480 at some point go for the 650w G2.
Ok thanks for the info. Just put my pc through some power calculators and:
Load Wattage: 453 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 503 W
Is that ~50w margin between recommended and the 550W G2 acceptable?
Power calculators are crap. There is no way in hell that you will be pulling 453w at load. That's more than my system and my 780 is more power hungry than a 480. The pc in my siggy pulls a maximum of 452w at the wall but only if I run Furmark and IBT both at the same time. Normal gaming use is anything between 122-365w depending on the game with the exception of Anno 2070 which makes the pc draw 422w. Idle power draw is only 68w. That's including the water cooilng pumps, several fans, two fan controllers, two water temp monitors, some led's and a overclocked cpu and ram.
At the end of the day, if it wasn't enough then I wouldn't have recommended it.
Ok, thank you.
Unfortunately the G2 is out of stock where I was going to get it, but an EVGA Supernova 550 W Gs Gold 80+ is in stock. I've read that its a slight step down compared to the G2, but is slightly cheaper and only 5 year warranty instead of 7. Have any of you used the Gs?
The Corsair RMx 550W is a very good alternative. You get a 10 year warranty with it.
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £94.85
(includes shipping: £9.90)

The Corsair isn't worth that money when the G2 is running around at a much cheaper price.
