Corsair H100 issues

Oh well all the those coolers with no plastic on their backplates better be recalled then, because i have plenty of them. Owns all different sorts of air coolers

And i should think Corsair tech would know the different between a cpu backplate and the cpu block come on its a bit obvious.

As I said, the plastic is there for a reason. You are right it probably won't short out a motherboard but that depends on what motherboard it is. I too have owned 'one or two' coolers, including waterblocks in my time and most have had a plastic/rubber/foam protective cover on the backplate - for good reason. While most modern boards allow for backplates with not having caps etc in the way, there are however still boards on the market and boards which appear to be compatible that DO have them in the way and thus would short out the board or worse, damage components.

It's not only for shorts either but also to prevent scratching the motherboard traces as plastic is a lot softer than metal. Removing it will increase your chances of A) shorting your board and B) scratching the back of the board with the backplate.;)

I currently have a H100 and the plastic is most definately NOT meant to be removed due to it being glued in place!

Aye;) Tbh unless you are a clumsy oaf the chances are it won't scratch the motherboard but as we have seen, with people squairting cpu paste in cpu sockets, there is not a 'one size fits all' for instructions lol.

Really?...Really????? Oh dear.

O and the H60 comes with exactly the same, (and I assume the H80 too) plastic sheet on the back plate. TBH it never crossed my mind that I should remove it, its quite thick stuff, just looks like it's supposed to be there.
Glad you fixed it icedbullet by turning it 90 degrees, I was going to suggest you start cutting up your milk cartons. :D
