Hi.

I am building a second 'server' PC out of my spare parts. I have a a Coolermaster 335 case, i5 2300 CPU and Gigabyte H61 motherboard. Going to fit some basic Corsair 1333MHZ 4GB RAM and an old 250GB Samsung IDE drive.

It'll also have my old Geforce 430 graphics card for now.

Will a H60 fit though? There is no cutout at the back of the CPU in the case. Would I need to modify this myself with a jigsaw? Or... is it a case of unmounting the motherboard and fitting the bracket at the back, then refixing?

Here's a photo (still got to tidy cables):

I won't be overclocking.

As it's a server PC I'd like it to run as quiet as possible 24/7. At the price of £29.99 for the H60 I just thought it made sense.

Any advice?

Alex.

Call me mad but I am keen on seeing what these water coolers are like.

I already have the Thermalright Macho in my main rig. It's brilliant. I just fancied a change for a system that won't be getting stressed.

The Thermalright True Spirit does look very nice though. Is it easy to fit without a backing plate cutout on the case behind the CPU?

Anyone else?

I still haven't made a purchase :)

I really want to see what this water cooling is all about and even if it all goes wrong (leaks) it's a spare computer I had lying around.

I'll let you guys know when I've made my decision.

Cheers.

Got the H60 guys. I appreciate your advice honestly but I wanted to see what one of these was like. It looks brand new. Real easy to fit just had to fiddle with the PSU a bit so it would fit. Air is drawing into the case. Just waiting on RAM and optical drive and I'll test her. I have a side panel intake and a front panel intake/exhaust. Where should I fit the 120mm exhaust?

Fan slot on side panel and front that's it. Only a cheap case. If I add another fan where do I plug it into? I'm out of fan headers but I do have a molex to fan connector laying about. I'd also have to get another Corsair fan the same wouldn't I? Not sure...

Could I maybe put the fan in front of the radiator and push the air out? Like I said the CPU is never going to be really stressed.

Them fans look okay. What if I have h60 pulling cool air in. Front panel 120mm as intake and side panel as an exhaust? I don't mind running them 24/7 at full speed with my molex adaptor.

Looking good! So you've got the Corsair SP120 Quiet editions? I noticed you're only using 2 screws for each fan. Is it still secure? What fan is hooked into the CPU header and what one is running 100% all the time?

Here is mine, just ran OCCT CPU linpack for half an hour and peaked at 58 degrees. Very happy considering I'm using the H60 to exhaust. No need to get another fan then I reckon.

Tidied up the wires:

Although... I am so pleased with the H series I was thinking of getting a refurbed H80 for my i5 3570k rig @ 4.3GHZ. I wonder how it would do compared to a Thermalright Macho 120mm.
