Corsair H70?

Was thinking of upgrading my cpu cooler, atm I've got an older version of the Thermalright IFX-14, It cools well but the size of it is just annoying me. Been looking at the h70 or another cpu water cooler so can get this massive heatsink out my case.

But will the cooling be that much better? I've currently got E8400 overclocked to 4ghz. Was hoping with new cpu watercooler could get to 4.5ghz
 
The H50/H70 only cools as much as the top air coolers so I am not sure how much more of an overclock you would be able to go for. Seems strange though to remove a large heat sink out of your case to replace it with a large radiator instead.
 
well yeah, but atleast i put radiator where i want, got big case but the heatsink almost touches the window on my side panel, and theres 2 120mm fans strapped to it.

My 4ghz overclock is pretty much limit by temps, i didn't wana go any highe because under load it reaches 65-75.
 
Your not sounding a fan of the H70 RJ :) i was looking into the pre sealed liquid coolers before i did much research and when i did the research and found you can buy a custom loop for not that much more for a lot more cooling performance i binned the idea of the pre built kits like the corsair. Would be good if the bods at OcUK who know their stuff could create some watercooling kits so we can stay with our fav retailor :D.
 
the h70 is loud and not as good as air coolers that cost half the price.

if you want a watercooling kit, post a spec me thread in this section and there will be a load of people who reply.

the fun about watercooling is all the research and checking build logs to get an idea of your requirements
 
I got a H50 off the MM recently and i still have yet to put it into my PC. Not sure i'll see much improvement cooling my Q9550 over my current ThermalRight Ultra120 + 1 X Noctua NF-P12. on load (Orthos) @3.8ghz the max coretemp reports is 55°C.
 
The H50 is generally on a par with high end air coolers such as the TRUE, it'll take up a bit less space though.
 
I have already found a complete kit RJ on another site 360 rad kit for £140 but it's a shame OcUK don't offer these complete kits as i would prefer to buy from you guys.
 
Hmmm ok, I've got an idea for watercooling in my pc. I've got a modded case with 2 huge 250mm fans on front, so could have 2 radiators, one behind each fan. Then would this be two loops? 1 for cpu 1 for gfx?
 
Well I got a h70 on my new pc - my dad's pc is using a h50 to cool a 980x 6 core (overclocked to 4.2Ghz). Temp is no problem at all (highest it ever got was 60deg C).
 
The H70 is loud with the standard fans. It's great if you swap them for something a bit quieter. I have 2 Noctuas running on mine but fancy swapping them for 2 Vipers.

Can't moan about pump noise. Not noticed it.
 
I got some viper's recently but couldn't stand the extra noise it made compared to the Noctua NF-P12's. (i have sensitive ears :p)

Will be sticking them on MM later.
 
My H50 is whisper quiet on my 3.5ghz overclocked i7 920, I still totally recommend them although I have not tried the H70 which looks like it would be a lot noisier with 2 fans.
 
I just received a H70 and the new Corsair 600T case. Im going to move my old system over to it the weekend. Will post back with results :)
