Corsair Hydro H50, 60 or 70...

Following on from this thread and the difficulties of getting the air cooling that I want to fit with my Vengeance RAM, I'm considering watercooling my i7-2600k instead.

I've read some reviews and comparisons and, given that I won't be going for an extreme overclock (around 4GHz), would the Corsair Hydro H50 be enough or should I get the newer H60? Or even the dual-fan H70?

The Corsair range seems very cheap in comparison to kits like the ones from EK and I don't want to have to buy twice.

Cheers.

This forum is the business. :D

I thought the stock cooler would probably be able to manage but the noise of the stupid thing is really irritating me. I can hear it over the 590 and the PSU...

H50 sounds like just what I need.

Thanks. :D

Thanks for all the replies. :)

I've had a look at the H80 and I think it would be OTT for my setup.

I think I'll order either the H50 or H60 this week.

I've just noticed that some of the watercooling kits (the H60 for example) appear in the CPU cooler section of OCUK but not in the watercooling section.

Its a nice piece of kit and you can make it silent and still perform extremely well by adding a akasa apache black fan to it (which is what I did)
I realised when I was fitting my new PSU and graphics card that I've already got a 120mm Akasa AK-183-L2B Amber Ultra Quiet sitting just below the PSU where the H60's radiator and fan will go so if the H60's fan is too noisy I can just swap it with that. :)

Been playing Torchlight for the past few hours and the system seems nice and stable at 4GHz/1.185 Vcore. :)

Pathetic amount of paste that it comes with. :o

H60 pump started making a rattling noise last night. I've checked everything else in there and the noise is definitely coming from the pump.

It sounds like there's something stuck in the block.

^ Could this have anything to do with the way I've fitted the pump block?

Every picture I've seen of the H60 has the block fitted so that the hoses come out of the right-hand side. I fitted mine with the hoses coming out of the top.

Although I'm not sure I had any choice as I think (and the picture above seems to confirm this) that, if I had the hoses coming out of the side, they'd hit a couple of transistors that are in between the CPU socket and the RAM sockets.

This is starting to get on my nerves now. :(

Here's a clip. Hopefully you'll be able to hear the noise I'm on about. Any idea what could be causing it? It was almost silent until last night.

RMA? :(

It was fine until I switched it on last night.

I found this thread on the Corsair support forums which describes the exact noise mine is making.

I've tried RAM Guy's suggestion of tapping the pump but it's made no difference. I'll leave it a few days in case it's just trapped air that needs to work itself loose.

I thought I could send it back to OCUK but there's a big note in the H60 box that says "DO NOT RETURN TO RETAILER" and the email from Corsair seems to be saying that it will have to go back to the US.

Not sure I can be bothered sending it all the way back there and then waiting for them to test it and send out a replacement. :(

Chalk it up to experience and buy something that actually works I suppose...

The noise is too irritating and now that I've noticed it I can't ignore it so the H60's coming out to be replaced by a Noctua NH-D14, along with some Corsair Vengeance LP RAM so that it'll actually fit. :D

Corsair said the same to me, doesn't mean you don't have the legal right to return it back to where you bought it from (it's faulty).

I didn't want to be without the computer, so I bought the H80 whilst returning the H60. Now have refund on the H60.
Thanks r0cky. :) I contacted OCUK and they told me that I could RMA it to them instead. I've ordered another cooler so as soon as that arrives I'll return the H60.
