Corsair ML Series Fans

Here is some decent information provided about fans including the Corsair ML fans.

It's quite an interesting read. http://thermalbench.com/category/fans/

Varders are specifically optimized for radiators and yes they are very good fans.

Agreed, and the Vardar's are GREAT fans. My point was only that in my case there has been no difference in temps, or noise for that matter, at the same RPM. I have the added benefit of a nice blue glow though.

:)

Maybe because the Varders were already providing sufficient airflow and you have basically replaced them with the same amount of cooling potential.

The guy testing the fans in that link also gives very positive feedback for the Corsair ML's although they are £8 more than the equivalent EK Varders.

Are you using them as case fans or rad fans?

I am using them for 3 x EK rads (560, 480 & 280) and 4 case fans (1 x 120 & 3 x 140) - as you said, same positioning as my Vardar's (which I have held on to for future builds).

I have loads of rad though, so there could well be a difference with one rad a fewer fans maybe.

I guess the whole 'Vardar are much better fans' comment, doesn't ring true for me; there is no difference at all. So i felt it was pertinent to give a rebuttal for those interested in buying them for glow! :)

Cheers :)

I've got 5 ML140's in my 780T case & H110, much more quiet than the old Corsair fans they replaced (running 600-800rpm). Plus the red LED's go well with the red/black theme I've got going. Pricey but worth it imo.

The Varders Seem to be the benchmark that everyone else is looking at. The ML pro matches it speed for speed and they generally look better but you have to pay a premium for the looks.

I am said guy :D

Here's the thing- Corsair are targeting Noctua, not Nidec or EK. Completely different scales of operation. Noctua responded by reducing prices in a lot of regions- esp USA where they make most of their retail sales. Corsair really has no excuse to keep the prices as they are now aside from the part where demand is still higher than supply. Once the early adopter tax is gone and these prices go down with it, the ML/SP RGB/HD RGB fans look much better.

Keep up the good work! :)

^^ Agreed, they are too much for what they are.

The way I see it is that If you have EK Varders or equivalent then their is little to no point replacing them for ML's unless you looking purely at aesthetics.

If your looking to buy new fans and LED's/looks are important and you don't mind paying for it then the ML's are a great choice.

IMO the EK Varders ER's are the best bang for buck high performing fan you can buy. Just my two cents's

Not sure how they compare to the ML's as I do not own them. I do own the EK F4 120ER's though and I can confirm that below 1200-1300rpm they are silent, at least to me. I sit roughly 6 feet away from my PC.

As I type I can hear this annoying buzzing noise from my TV over any fan noise :). However at full speed 2200RPM they are very noisey but you should never need to run them that high.

McGraw>THe corsair ML go down to 400 Rpm the Vardars go down to 250rpm.

Atm my setup is without the case. I have both the Vardar and ML's. I sit about 1-2 feet away from it.

So at 250 RPM the Ek fans are quiet BUT in my current open setup they are louder than the ML even though the ML are at 400 RPM. THe simple reason is because at certain set rpm for both the vardars push more air than the ML's so what I am hearing is the air being pushed. At 400 rpm the ML is inaudible to me.

With a case on it I doubt the vardars would be loud enough at 250 rpm to bother anyone. And tbh even with my open setup it is very hard to hear.

THe vardars are a very good fan but so is the ML as well. But I still rate the gentle typoons as a better fan which again in itself is subjective. But they are ugly as hell. Not as ugly as noctuas with their colour scheme but it depends on your preferences.

I suppose which fan you choose is down to how much aesetics you want compared to performance and budget.

If you want the looks and very good performance but not the outright best performance and price is not an issue then get the ML.

If price is a concern and okay about looks then get the vardars.

If you don't care about looks and price but want the perfomance get the typhoons. And if you can get hold of them. If not get the noctuas.

Although I know think corsair=Asus. THey make stylish products but you pay corsair/asus tax on them.

These are great. I had all SP120s in my case and replaced them all with ML140's plus added two of them to my H110i GTX and they are so quiet plus give great cooling.

I have them all set to 1050rpm's and they still kick out some serious air while being super quiet despite only operating at 50% speed or there abouts

Just make sure they are getting 12v or the magnet aspect of them wont be working

Same here dude. 780T and I have 2 in the front,1 in the back and 2 on the roof connected to my H110i GTX. Excellent perfromance even if they are on the pricey side

I hate spending more money than they are worth but I'm in need of a fan that can put a lot of air out and look good at the same time as no bloody fan motor noise! I used to run Silverstone but since they decided to go to the white blue scheme the build quality isn't as good.

You say they are going against Noctua but what would you say they are like against the redux series?
