Hey

Just wanted to see if people think this is a sideways step in terms of hunting out more performance, or not, for the money. :)

The Firecuda 510 500GB is currently £104.99 with OCUK. I figured if I could get say £40 for my MP510 480GB second hand(?) then I could potentially "upgrade" for £64.99.

Spec wise the Firecuda 510 seems better on paper.

MP510 | Firecuda 510
  • Read speed: 2000 | 2500 (Firecuda 510 wins)
  • Write speed: 3480 | 3450 (MP510 wins)
  • Read IOPS: 360 | 420 (Firecuda wins)
  • Write IOPS: 440 | 600 (Firecuda wins)
  • SLC Cache: 24GB | 28GB (Firecuda wins)
I don't think going to Gen 4 is going to offer me anything so I was just planning to stick with the Gen 3 drives.

For £64.99 is it worth jumping across?

Cheers.

Kind of looks like a sideways step to me
Personally I love the mp510 drives
Though I have the faster 960gb
And got 3 x M2
Once you have more than 1 is when they
Really shine as Copying to/from is
Where you would notice a difference
Not sure you would notice any great
Difference going from a mp510 to that
