Corsair PSU - Custom Cabling

I am looking at the Corsair HX750i Full Modular Digital Power Supply for a new build I am doing with a Bitfenix Prodigy case. Due to the limited space for cabling, I am going to be making my own made to measure cables. The only question I have is do I need to buy specific connectors for the PSU side of the cable to fit the Corsair PSU? E.g. For the 32 pin motherboard power cable, do I simply just need to buy 2 x male 32 pin motherboard connectors?

Could you not cut the ones that come with the PSU and then strip the cables back and put them back into the pin headers?

I think that's what I'm going to have to do. Didn't want to cut up the existing cables if I could help it.

I'll contact Corsair, and see what they say.. There must be a way of getting them as people make and sell custom cables.. Not in a rush anyway, as I've got a lot of case modding etc to do first.

I have been looking around for this and I'm really surprised you can't just buy the cables and connectors from a PC store and make your own from scratch. I have come to the conclusion that you've only got the option to cut them to size, buy the pins (ironically available easily) and cirimp them yourself.

Failing that a trip to the electronics store should get you some good quality wire to use.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to just take the connectors off the existing cables and then just buy some wire and pins. I want white cable anyway to make sure it doesn't show up through the paracord

Had a response from Corsair. They do not sell or supply the connectors separately. You have to buy one of there cable sets and use the connectors from there.

There are places that sell them, such as http://www.moddiy.com/categories/Connectors/ I should think they are just standard connectors on the PSU end, certainly standard at the motherboard end.

The connectors are different between PSU's, so you have to buy the correct adapter for each PSU

Will do. Going to buy a new jigsaw tomorrow to start cutting up the side panels. Might start a build log, but I do forget to take pictures

I'm also unsure of what i'm doing about cooling.. My first plan was using a H100i up top for the CPU and then use a rear exhausting graphics card.. but now I am thinking about a custom water loop with a water block on the GPU too, but not sure on what rads I will be able to fit to cool both in the same loop.

I'm having that dilemma right now too. I think I'm eventually going to go for a full watercooling loop, but in the mean time probably just stock coolers until I have the capital for decent WC components. I've considered an AIO and air cooling the GPU, but now the 970 isn't all it has cracked up to be, I'll be waiting to see what AMD's offerings are before deciding fully which fan type to go for.

The down side of water cooling is that I'm struggling where to put the 3.5" HDD, if you take all the drive mounts out for pumps and res's then you loose the ability to mount any real storage. It's a tricky one!

You might be able to squeeze the 3.5" sideways next to that PSU.

I think I'm going to just drop my H100i in to start and then learn about making a custom watercooling setup with acrylic tubing
