Had left my pc downloading and went to bed, got upto go to the loo n smelt a burning kinda smell, went through and computer was off, was a tx650 and almost 2 years old, no idea if its damaged anything else when it died till I get a new one, I see it comes with a 5 yr warranty when bought yet no doubt because I bought a system from clockers with it installed that only had a 1yr warranty I'm kinda screwed there. Also wondering what are the chances of it taking something else in the pc out with it?

warranty is with corsair after that initial year, so contact them. while it can take all components out with it, because its a good brand one the chances are less than with a cheapo psu. only way to find out is to test, but if there are no scorch marks on anything you will hopefully have no other damaged hardware.

Had the same thing happen to me tx650 went with a loud bang when playing a game scared the crap out of me  no smoke in my case was from OC build too returned to corsair in holland they sent me a brand new one out just had to pay carrage to them 22 quid rest of my pc was fine no damage at all

you might well have got away with just a blown psu, i had a nearly 4 yr old Corsair HX620 go with a very loud bang, blue flash, & puff of smoke when i switched the pc on one day. thankfully, the only thing that died was the psu.

contact Corsair for an RMA, all they want to know is what happened, where you bought it from, & when, & it shouldn't take before you get an RMA authorization to the netherlands.
