corsair RM650 fan

does anyone know if the fans in the PSU should be running at all times or just when temps get hot?

i had this PSU a while now but having it mounting in the bottom of the case i never knew that the fan was running, having renewed my case my PSU is now on its side with the fan on the outside but ive not seen it spin, i havent had any issues with power supply as of yet

The psu is semi passive so the fan only spins up when the unit hits a certain load or temp.

Is there any software do you know that will monitor the usage etc?

You can buy a plug in power meter to measure system power draw but there is no software for that model. Only the i series of Corsair units can monitor what the psu is doing. Personally I think it's just a gimmick. As long as the psu is doing what it's supposed to we don't need to know what it's doing.
