I'm planning to add my other 1080ti to my main rig. I've done a power supply calculator and according to my components its fine, has anyone had a similar experience?

The cards at 1080ti FE editions was im happy with them blowing out and i dont mind the noise.

What confuses me though... the FE cards have a 8 and a 6 pin power connector and the back of the power supply shows one input for PCI-E even though it is SLI compatible.

here is a diagram of the back of the power supply. Could i connect the second card to the peripheral input? Or do i have to bite the bullet and buy a new power supply with another PCI-E input?

Your psu comes with 3x pci-e connectors each of which have a pair of plugs on the end giving you a total of 6 pci-e power plugs. It also comes with 2x 4+4 pin cpu power plugs. These five leads can be plugged into any of the five 8 pin sockets in the psu. This is the pair above where it says 6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU and also the three directly underneath.

Thanks for the reply! I didn't realise the ones underneath were also pci-e inputs.

My only concern now is that before I did the power consumption test I didn't factor in the new CPU (7940x) and it seems that's going to suck a bit more power

Wow, just found a review with the 7960x (couldn't find one with power draw for yours) and with a single 1080ti and a overclock to 4.1Ghz the pc was drawing 600w!! With each 1080ti having the potential to pull around 300w I would be looking at a 1000-1200w psu.

Yeah I think the power draw is similar if not the same. Remember they are default foundwrs edition and I'm not overclocking. However I think it's better safe them sorry so I'll be probably go for 1000 one.

It all depends on how hard you overclock really, i9's can consume stupid amounts of power when overclocked. In regards to founder's while they will be at stock, you will see them pull slightly more power then with the stock blower cooler as they run cooler. Not by a significant amount but some.

So your PSU would be fine at stock speeds, but overclocked, 1000w may be more ideal.

7900x overclocked to 4.4 on all cores with my evga 1080ti running on a rampage 6 at full load takes about 760 from the wall and that's with a seasonic prime 1000w 80+t.
