So my first post ....

I have 16gb corsair vengeance memory with 8-8-8-24 timings and 1600mhz.

When running cpu-z it is displaying 9-9-9-24 and the speed is 668.9mhz. Is this right? When i had 8GB of ram it was showing the advertised timings. Mabye something to do with the extra 8GB ive just added? Have i done something wrong?

Cheers

Micky;)

It's not quite right.

Go into the BIOS and enable the XMP profile.

If it's 1.5V RAM leave it at that.

If it's 1.65V RAM try setting the DRAM voltage manually, try 1.55V to start with and work from there.

If its this m8

they do 1866mhz with the following timings and voltage

1.60v 10-10-9 24 2t i got mine the other day and just got them to 1866 stable ! :)

with a sandy bridge system that's not really going to make any difference.

No it was not from overclockers , it was from another reputable parts supplier not far from me. Ocuk didn't do this ram and i had my head set on vengeance ram due to the good reviews on it at the time. Not had a go at overclocking the ram (dont know what im doing really) and doesn't seem like it would benefit me much at the moment.

Does the timings make much of a difference to the normal 9-9-9-24 ?

Thanks

Mick

I am on a z77 ud5h motherboard if that makes any difference !!
I only built my pc the other so day still experimenting. ;)

The memory controller is on the processor so see above if you have Sandy Bridge.

If you have Ivy Bridge:

It's early days and I've not seen much testing yet.

One here comparing 1600MHz to 2400MHz: Review: G.Skill TridentX DDR3-2,400 Ivy Bridge memory

It's fairly limited testing but it doesn't show much of a performance gain with 2400MHz.

Right just done some tests and Surveyor is correct ! ;)

But what does help just a little if you can do it, is drop
the command rate to T 1 from T 2 i got a little boost from that but mem speeds nope! :D
