I was just wondering if anyone could give us some advice on what the problem could be and how much we'd be looking at for repairs.

For a couple of months her gears have been sticking and sometimes missing the gear.

Last night she was having a lot of trouble getting in 1st and 2nd gear, then this morning she just can not get it into 1st or 2nd at all. Its not making any clunking or grinding noise, it just seems like there is a block in the way stopping you from getting into gear.

We called up Nationwide garage to book it in and get a quick idea of what it could be and they said it could be either the clutch, Gearbox or linkage (something like that)

So i was wondering if anyone could let us know a little more in detail about the issues and a rough estimate of how much it'll cost.

Thanks.

What year is it?

My old 03 plate had this problem and it was the gear linkage - i think there was a recall for it and it was replaced free of charge.

You could call the recall line on 0118 9458500 give them the chassis number and they will tell you if it needs doing or has already been done.

Gear linkage, used to be made of plastic, now are metal.
I'm not 100% sure about the recall, but i thought it's only covered under warranty.
Take a look on ccuk if you want more info guide to changing it yourself
Just do a search, there's lots of threads because it's so common on pre-facelift corsa's.
£100-£150 i think. (£140 @ vauxhall apparently)

Thanks for the replies so far.

It's a 2002 plate with 40,000 miles if this helps.

How do I get the chassis number Thebug?

It is definatley the gear linkage, a very common fault. If they wont do it for free, get your usual garage to do it, its not a hard job afaik.

make sure its replaced with the all metal version rather than just another one of the same as you have now
