Cosmo caught and going to jail.

Pretty scary to think a 15 year old kid can socially engineer his way through some major companies security. No doubt he'll get a good job after his prison stint.

Thats insane...

I've been thinking only recently that I need to shore up a couple of weak links after my twitter and hotmail were hacked... God knows how they got into my hotmail, because I can't get back into it myself....

Can see him getting a job as a security consultant tbh...

Weak links?

The only weak link worth anyone's time is the link between the consumer and the service.

A password is only as secure as the service.

I'd say the prison stint will throw in a bit of doubt re: him getting a good job later in life.

Sensationalist article is sensationalist.

Not saying it's factually incorrect, but they are patently milking the drama.

Since Mat got 'hacked' he does seem to have gotten a little obsessed with it all! Though I do suppose his life was crumbling apart when they started the wipe on his Macbook. :D

He'll get a good job.

They look for hackers like this to help sure up holes in systems. Same as they do with serious fraud.

I am a bit undecided on the 'he will get a good job' statement.

If the prison sentence is long enough, technology would change and he would not remain as good. No doubt you will find companies who would want to employ him and teach him stuff, regardless of his criminal record.

I had heard that two guys had broken into NASA's computers, and instead of a prison sentence, they got an unpaid job (something like community service) at NASA, improving security.
I'm not on social networks so idk.

Stupid statement. This guy got information from anything but social networks. You ever bought anything on the internet? Well, right there you have your name, address, d.o.b, credit card number, e-mail address etc. From your posts on forums, you might even leave traces about yourself.

Its not only social networks.

He doesn't really use tech tools, he uses social engineering techniques. Simple as that.
