Cost of electricity - finding a deal

Assuming £2 a day you mention, and assuming 30p a unit you would need to use 6.667 units. Which is 6667w. 6667/12 = 555.58 watts
Thats a not insignificant amount of energy and I would say would be impossible to have naturally cooling itself on something the size of that light plus another smaller one.

triffids need some control

Have you considered getting a dedicated growing bulb, as a trial to see if the plants benefit - one with a high CRI value so they give full spectrum as well as the predominate Sun 6500K ?
Don't run it much now, because not dimmable, but I have some RX7 halide bulbs 75W / 6000lumens which are not too inefficient versus led, but do give a natural light, not clinical,
plants apparently love them - if I needed a new career.

Lighting is actually a difficult thing I find. Daylight is great when you want it bright but what about when you don't, like if you're watching a film or want it to be cosy in the winter?
some of the philips dim->red/3000K - Dimtone - I don't like it but their expert colour that don't are £15/ea
the “DimTone” feature could be useful. This is a LED feature that creates a warmer tone once light is dimmed down to lower intensities WTH
they are trying to make a sales benefit out of a deficiency, so if anything looking at more expensive philips expert colour, gu10's, really disappointed when I found out.

In the old days you could just stick a 100w with a dimmer. Now you have to try and figure out the wattage, the colour temp, whether it's a dimmable bulb or not, probably change the dimmer switch as well...

Got some some. Super cheap wiz smart bulbs with dimming for the living room. It's nice because if I tell Google to turn on cinema I've set it to drop the light too.

Then after I can turn lights to 20pc rather than going from 0-100pc and blinding!

More plants at the bedroom window.

My little oasis in the kitchen. I haven't finished yet... I'm just testing things right now. I'll be tucking that cable away once I'm happy with the setup.

Nice Dracena. Your right about the plants except for the calathea, the others are Peace Lilies but one fails to bloom for some reason. Nice setup. I only recently installed the lights so my plants will be be much bigger in about 3 months time. I have a fiddle leaf fig as well although its not shown in the photos and a Ficus Rubber tree at the other end of the kitchen by the window.

I think I'll should be good with the 6500k. The blue & red might not be necessary as its just green foliage plants. The white light is better for house plants where as the grow lights are more geared towards vegetables and budding.

Ah yeah. I see now. I thought it was the calathea with pale leaves but dark ribs

My alocasia frydek has popped out huge leaves this year.

Looks great. I want.

So even in a dark room you can just put an LED lamp in and it will be enough light? I always assumed it had to be natural light because of the UV component.

It does get quite a lot of light
In the first pic the window is off to the left. Just out of shot. So it's only that left corner that needs light.

But a lot of the plants in there don't need lots.

Been a lot of trial and error. But these plants are happy where they are.

I absolutely love house plants. Even taking one out leaves (lol leaves) a gap.

Downstairs I have a monstera albo that's popped out some lush leaves this season.

Not all plants have the same lighting requirements, the plants we have in our homes are from dense tropical forests under tree canopies where its darker shade which makes them perfect for our homes so an LED light that can give out more than 300 lumens of light is enough to keep a lower light tolerant plant happy.

Plants don't use UV light to grow however UV light can be important to kill harmful bacteria and help the plant fight off pests but its generally not used in the home.

I got all the plants I need besides if you have too many plants when they grow bigger space becomes an issue. I am after a chinese evergreen aglaonema.

I need to install a couple of lights in the livingroom and I may move the big spider plant to the livingroom as my other monstera seems to be doing well in there by the glass doors eventhough its dark in there for most of the day and my birds could do with a bit more light as well, that way I wont have to run this UFO light anymore I also need to put a few more supplemental lights in the kitchen so that all plants are getting the light they need especially around the pothos, there are areas where the LUX really drops down.

Thats an old wash bowl and jug with paper work and stuff I haven't sorted through it yet.

I don't think that's what he was talking about!

Well done on your fern is that what they are meant to look like? Here's my effort even after giving it a self-watering plant pot:

OP, if you don't find the source of your energy consumption soon, Christ help you with your energy bill.

More water!
I found they like being perpetually wet.
Like even sitting in water is OK.

Its a nice bathroom. I wish I had a window in mine so I could put some plants in there although I could upgrade the bathroom light but that would be an extra cost of leaving it on all day... its possible for the future. I just need to settle on a monthly cost that I'm willing to pay for energy.

Today I had all the kitchen lights on which is 3x 7watt LED bulbs and the 40watt LED strip light for 12 hours and has come to 69p which isn't bad that works out to 4.90 per week. This is just for the kitchen no other lights in the flat have been on.

I wouldn't have any plant sitting in water you'd rot the roots unless its growing in water without any compost. I bought a Boston fern once from B&Q that was over watered and it developed root rot.

I would not either, unless it's a plant that's naturally in wet conditions, otherwise all my plants follow the water, then dry out process
