Cost of Living - Shrinkflation is speeding up at an alarming rate

well, either you have reading difficultities or you are just lying, otherwise you would see Tesco's operating margin has reduced by 35%y/y, so actually Tescos is absorbing the increased cost of products.

He is just pretending he has a clue about reading financial statements and understanding things, its exactly the same as if you read those figures he posted in complete isolation without knowing any other figures, like margin yes, and net margin has declined yes.

And in normal situations where nothing changes, a company where costs of goods are the highest cost, reducing volume while increasing prices will increase margins and profitability, and thus would be indicative they are charging more in a greedy way.

Remember the claim was that supermarkets are price gouging.

brought some ciabatta roles today from asda. noticed that they have shrunk by about 25%

I would rather that they put up the price. when they shrink the size it feels like you have been cheated.

shrinkflation now affecting staples like bread is like being punched in the face

Same thing happening with toiletries "new improved" versions which are smaller quantities at a higher price and inferior to the product which has been around for years, etc. and/or certain ingredients swapped out, for probably cheaper ones, making them useless :(

Price of spray deodorant shocked me in the UK.
A can of dove 200ml was £4.50 that's a straight up doubling in price. How is that justified?
It was something I used to stock up on when I came to London . (And paxo :p)

If you drink tea, start buying mint teabags, once used put them under your armpit's over night, or any other crack than might smell

28 pack of Walkers in Tesco gradually gone to 20 packs, with price increasing from £3.50 to £4.85. Picked up a box of 60 from Costco for £9 which is 10p a pack cheaper. Will be buying more things in bulk from now on I think

Yea I think Tescos are particularly guilty at the moment.

But it's not just them, I don't shop in Aldi or Lidl that often, only because of distance, but I've noticed even on there the £50 shop is more like £80 now.

The price of butane or whatever gas they use will have sky rocketed the past year. Though gas prices are basically back to normal now I doubt we’ll see those prices come down in a hurray.

Source shower gel. The old school tea tree used to tingle your bits like a lady of the night in Hamburg, these days it's simple trip to the Dr's and cough 1,2

I suspect there are lots like our household very dependent upon their delivery, six months Delivery Saver costs ~£48 iirc (you can use your Tesco Points, used to be 3x their value for Del Saver but now 1x) so less than £2 a week. But as much as the delivery is a godsend to us, we are vulnerable to all these price hikes.

Can't say for Hamburg. But can vouch for Bucharest though. Less of a tingle.. More of a burn..

Anyone who shops at Tesco (and increasingly Sainsburys) who doesn't have a Clubcard and Nectar card are foolish. Have saved more money at one of them than I spent all due to scanning the loyalty card!

Wonder how much money will Tesco lose if every customer has a Clubcard as even the clothes and wine offers are only applicable with scanning of the Clubcard.

Oh its the "advanced care" range. Still apply deodorant every time I have a shower. Even the 96 hour protection stuff. Who only applies deodorant every 4 days? They have discontinued the standard range. As I bought a few cans in clearance for about 60p each.

Genuine question.. I feel like they aren't bringing down prices in accordance with actual cost of processing and shipping. Fuel is coming down, apparently worldwide food costs are a 2 year low.

It feels (maybe wrongly) that this is now just gouging.. But

What can I as an individual do about it. I already shop at Lidl the cheapest place and I have already given up on certain luxury items out of spite, but shouldn't the government be doing soemthing if I'm correct..

We can't suffer to line the riches pockets.
