My wife and I joined Costco a few months ago. For those of you unfamiliar with Costco, it's basically a big US wholesaler. We got some advertising from them over the weekend, in which they announced a tyre purchase and fitting service - they sell all the big brands at reduced prices. Has anyone here used them before? Good value?

They state they fill the tyres with nitrogen, what are the benefits of that over normal air, and what are you supposed to do if you need to top up? I understand nitrogen is present in air before anyone is a smart arse :)

Mine only does Michelin tyres IIRC, occasionally get sent 20% off vouchers for them.

If you get exited at their tyre price, wait til you see the Mobil1!

Some info as to why nitrogen is a waste of time:

I went to the one in Watford a couple of years ago, got to new fronts for £60 fitted. Not amazing but can't complain I suppose.

Got my set of energy savers at Costco ;)

The prices are pretty good, watch out for the higher speed rated tyres though as they are usually much more expensive - so check what you actually need, they will order tyres in at your request.

The service is very convenient too

They are very competitive on Michelin Pilot Sports during their 20% off periods.

Bosch batteries, and as mentioned above, Mobil 1 oil is also very well priced.

You have to be a member to buy stuff tho,if you are lucky you might be able to blag it, but it is 20 squid a year. Some of the food is good value as are the 5 year warantee's on TVs,other than that it isnt so cheap.

Members are issued with a card which is scanned when you go to buy stuff, you also have to show the card to gain entry......

when i was in Canada every few months would get a flyer through for a non member day at costco. Must do the same thing here

Yes it is. We saved £140 on the high street price of a HD video camera and loads on other items. I love Costco :)
