Costco...

Oh wow, I didn't expect such amusement in such an innocuous looking thread.

Do people do this IRL Fox - just randomly start fights with you? Must get tiresome.

No, because outside of motoring forums on the internet I just nod and say 'oh right' when somebody says they only ever get tyres from one place because they 'do a free pressure check'.

My wifes like that when iv had a few, she just nods and says oh right. :)

I thought I told you to settle down Fox.

Looks like your loyal band of followers also have limited mental capacity. Let me lay it out nice and tidy for you guys (so you don't miss the main point and focus on the tiny one again).

Fox has expressed issues with:
a) a company providing a free tire rotation for life
b) a company also checking your tire pressure for you since they are rotating the tires
c) my error with getting a flat tire due to low pressure
d) the notion of rotating ones tires

So in keeping with this lay out (just so that you don't get confused), I'll retort to one item.

The flat tire was due to:
(a) the temperature dropping from 90oF (when I bought the car) to -15oF
(b) checking the pressure only two months previous and being happy that it was correct
(c) being three months into the first car I had ever bought
(d) the temperature never dropping that low in UK so it was an unfamiliar hazard
(e) leaving the car parked outdoors at the airport for two days with 2 inches of snow on the ground and car

I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't consider that a dumb error but Fox is so awesome she (that's right I said she) could migrate to Alaska and know every inane detail about how to live there. Even inane tiny details equivalent to the frequency at which you check tire pressure for your first ever car.

I think this troll has been fed enough.
Ace :D

ROFL, look how mad you are. Fox wins yet another one.

I've known trentlad for about 20years. He is british, but moved to america about 4 years ago.

He is an argumentative ****, and will never back down in an argument, no matter how silly he looks :p

He's still my best mate though, even though he just told me to **** off on steam chat.

The point of this post, is so i can **** him off after our silly little argument and him telling me to **** off.

He will probably send me a message in 'serious mode' asking why would i want to **** him off for. That conversation will then go on for another hour, until he storms off again.

Hey that's what mates do!!

Harry you ****. Love you :D

Then he seriously needs to grow up

Even his best mate knows how childish and easy to wind up he is?

Mine don't. Am I missing out?

Sorry, who are you to dictate who replies to your posts? If you don't like the answers you are given don't post in a public forum. The clue is in the word public.

By band of followers you mean anyone with half a braincell that disagrees with anything you say?

I will simplify this for you and bring it down to your level then:

1. Fox hasn't "taken issue" with your points, just answered them with concerns on how he would deal with it (remember, YOU asked for an opinion by posting on a PUBLIC forum)
2. He is also not the only one. Not all of those who agree with Fox are in "his loyal band"
3. You get nothing for free in this life. They do it because you will keep going back and spending money with them in the same way Fox goes to BMW.
4. Its not an error not checking tyre pressures for three months. Its laziness.
5. Rotating tyres has as may negatives as positives.
6. The fact you list points as to why your tyre was flat in the first place only highlight that you couldn't be bothered. Surely in a harsher climate you would check you tyres more often? Thats common sense, not awesomeness.

I see how badly you fail at personal insults, I'm sure Fox has been called a lot worse by his own family. Well done. You are quite right about feeding the troll. In this instance it is you.

Rotating tyres is a pretty normal thing to do (unless you own a 4WD car).

The only negative is that you have to buy 4 tyres a once.

I think trentlad did something silly, but i don't think he lost anything (apart from two tyres).

Wow! Sorry to the OP for derailing your thread. I had looked at Costco, Bell Tire and a few local places but found Discount Tire (US companies) to be the cheapest around for my tyres and they also offered those two complimentary services.

Is there a 'Fox&Gang Attacks' thread going on so I can move this over there?

Fox, I sincerely apologise for responding to you so harshly. That was definitely not fair and even if you do have a reputation for being coarse I shouldn't have used that to instantly put up my guard and reply in such a way.

I definitely made a silly error by not regularly checking my tyre pressure when temperatures dropped. I was under the impression that most people don't check them so regularly and rather visually inspect. So do you guys physically check your pressure every 2 weeks with a gauge? Honestly. Regardless it was an expensive lesson to learn but I won't be making it again.

My hands are up, I made an easy to make mistake and had to pay for it

I could make excuses like: the car had been sitting outside in snow for two days at an airport and that caused the tyre pressure to dramatically drop, or that I couldn't see the tyres after clearing snow off the car at 11pm, or that I was driving the car through 2 inches of snow when I got the flat, or that it was my first car, or that I'd never driven in snow before, or that I'd be amazed if anyone honestly checked their tyre pressure with a gauge more than every two months, or that anyone who bought their first car would not intuitively know this hazard especially when they've lived in a country which has never had snow like that (pre-2005), or that it was a mistake that anyone could have made... but the fact of the matter is that I made an error and I paid for it.

I certainly wouldn't consider it dumb.

Keep it friendly gents :p

I do each time I fill up with petrol, it's free to fill the tyres in my petrol station so might as well.

'Visually' checking will only tell you if it's over 10psi out, you'd be able to feel the difference in handling before being able to see that you need more air
