You could give Manual Samuel a shot - it has a co-op mode!
Haha that looks epic in an Octodad kind of way - thanks!
Added Octodad too.
And Goat Simulator - how could I forget!
Wonky physics fun a-go-go!

Project Zomboid also has controller support and splitscreen coop. Bit more of an in-depth isometric survival sim. Quite challenging but you can play with the difficulty to tailor it to you.
Another vote for the Trine series. Any Lego game which has local co-op.
Does Orcs Must Die 2 have local co-op? If it does then that would get my vote.
Rayman (Legends?). How To Survive.
Diablo 3 (on console).
Torchlight 2 if it has split screen.
not sure if it has controller support, but recently played through the room 1 and 2 with the other half. Was good fun.
save for the occasional bouts of, try clicking on the glowing thing, no the other glowing thing
Few my partner & I have enjoyed playing through:
Alan Wake Series
Alien Isolation
Bioshock Series
Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time.
Portal 2 co-op. Should get you thinking!
EDIT: Didn't see this in the original list
Just throwing out a suggestion here, for co-op games there's no better system then the WiiU
If I remember correctly, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory had a coop campaign that I thoroughly enjoyed. It is a bit dated now
If fun racing games are of any interest, Trackmania has local split-screen too. That used to have a huge online community, very fun, quick arcadey racer.
The sonic racing games are good fun. Bit like Mario kart.
Monkey Island
The walking dead
Tomb raider games
Any Mario game
Broken Sword
Uncharted games
The witcher 3
Gta V
Anything first person and she gets a head ache watching it.
I can't believe ultimate chicken horse isn't on your party game list
I prefer a game of Hide the Sausage, personally.
