Hi all. My knowledge on overclocking goes as far as bumping up the FSB on my old 775 rig and using a XMP ram profile on my new one lol.

I am trying to squeeze some more speed out of my G3258 on my Gigabyte Z87x-UD4H with 16GB of 2400mhz Kingston hyper x beast.

I have read a few guides, but a lot of them use different terms to the ones I'm seeing in my BIOS so I get instantly lost. I have tried increasing the bus speed but I get some instability on my GPU and can only really hit 3.4ghz. I then tried to increase the multiplier but I can't get the changes to stick? There is a on / off button next to it but this doesn't seem to make a difference, neither does clicking apply before saving & exiting?

G3258 should be able to just up the multi to 40 on stock volts. Worked in mine in a h81 mobo.

After that you have to start messing with other aettings.

Make sure uve not got any oc genie or anything ticked and no overclocking software installed for the mobo.

That's what I thought mate from research. pretty sure I havent got any overclocking apps installed but will check what gigabyte stuff has installed when I get home.

I have reset the bios a few times so don't think its anything in there causing it to not be saved? Just found a screen print.... anyone know what the on / off switch is supposed to do next to the CPU base clock and clock ratio? http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/2191/gigabyte-z87x-ud3h-oc-3.jpg

U running windows 10?

Mine wont overclock on 10 but will on 8.1

What do you mean mate? the only thing i was changing in the BIOS was that multiplier for now, the rest I left as default

anyone got any ideas why windows wont recognise the change in multiplier? Its getting on my nerves now I need more power out of this G3258!
