Could faulty RAM cause a system to restart without BSOD?

basically I'm going to receive my titan Goliath back from RMA this morning , it ran fine for them when they were testing it after they replaced the ram and thermal paste. I just hope it wasn't the 5870 that i bought separately, as i didn't send that back for testing

I also disabled auto restart on system failure and it still didn't show BSOD, I thought it would've been the PSU but if they managed to run primt95 overnight and it didn't crash then could it have been possibly been the memory that caused the restarts? , i thought it would blue screened as i have had problems with memory before.

Does it power down normally as if you are shutting down or just blink off?

as far as i remember it shut down ok

there was a problem with the hsf , not enough paste or something as it hit almost 100c at 100% with prime95 . but restarting when it was at idle (45c) surely it wasn't a temp problem
