Ok I'm still very much in the learning stages, but decided to take my camera along to chinese new year in london last sunday.

Took a few pics but they all didn't come out that great. Tbh I wasn't that close, but still wonder if I could have perhaps taken them better, technically speaking that is.

They don't appear that sharp tbh, but perhaps taht's just me demanding too much from my little E550, (exif included)

I was at the same event - the key is, and was, to get close to the thing you're actually trying to capture(I was after some performing pictures). I had to battle to get 40-50 feet away.

Your pictures are suffering as a result of the low and very powerful sun from behind the stage on the day I expect(As it was there when I went). When you're taking pics in direct sunlight, it gives lack of contrast unless you have a good lens hood.

Getting closer and out of the bright sunlight got me what I wanted (resized from 6MP)

boycee: Your pic appears very hazy for some reason - did you take these right after a firecracker display, for example?

Sleepyd: Love the expression and contrast :)

na but not after a firecracker display.

However as Sleepyd said, it was basically like shooting directly into the sun, but there wasn't much I could do about that from where I was standing :(
