Could my processor be slowing down my GPU's?

What really gets me....Is that this proves that person who fitted that cooler didn't even look at the bottom of the cooler to check for if there was any dust or dirt on it before fitting it to the cpu ..

do you think it would have damaged my cpu and seriously inhibited performance?

Damaged: no. It's practically impossible to damage a modern CPU through overheating... the thermal protection is too good.

Inhibited performance: probably. If the chip was overheating (which it probably was, since plastic isn't renowned for conducting heat), then it will have slowed itself down to prevent damage. There won't be any long-term effect, though... with the cooler refitted correctly, it should work fine.

As long as your CPU didn't grossly overheat during the time you used it, it will be fine.

What you see as your CPU is actually the ceramic die. sometimes with metal on it. But basically, it's not the actual processor. electronics engineers build the CPU inside its case for two reasons
1) Allow larger area for interconnect - pins, etc.
2) to increase surface area for heat dissipation.

so just clean it up and fix the cooler correctly. IF ur CPU is still working fine then i doubt anything happened to it.

yeh i got a new cooler anyways and fitted the V8 instead of the TX3, but ive had everything out my case given it all a good clean up and re fitted it with some cable management so all seems well so far!
