"Could not activate mobile data network" - New Orange phone error?

Im finding i have issues like this every other week lol but normally only for a day this time its been 3 days of crap internet off orange.
 
Has been fine for me since yesterday. Hopefully these problems don't continue - I'm signing a contract with them tomorrow. Only a month by month, but still!
 
I appear to have internet working now.

Next to my signal bars i have a circle, is this showing I have 2G coverage (GPRS), 3G is off at the moment anyway but should I get an "E" for edge eventually?
 
Right just this is my 2nd iphone in a week, the first was with Vodafone but I ended that due to poor (well, non existant) coverage while at work, but when I was at home I got the E symbol and the internet wasnt all that bad.

Just wondered if this should appear with orange when this problem is out of the way.
 
The iphone hardly ever shows the E, no matter where you are. I have just upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S from an iphone 3GS and at my house, I get a 5 bar 3G signal as well as GPRS and EDGE, but with the 3G off, the iphone showed an E about once in a blue moon :)

You live in an area with no Orange 3G coverage so it's perfectly normal.
