Hey guys the customer service forum Bailey told me to message you guys here for advice so here goes..

okay so my issue is my sound, everything works completely fine and normal with no static or whining when im on normal desktop or browsing the web, as soon as I load up a game client the speaker starts making this whining sound my pc is silent and fine but the speakers are making this sound, yet if I plug my headset into the front port jack to use instead of the speaker and turn the speaker off the sound suddenly goes away and doesn't play through the headset, it did disappear yesterday as a problem but then came back!
Is this a problem with the audio jack to 3.5mm wire im using? as i tried two different wires, and surely it should be able to manage this connection as my last pc was outdated and very old and I never had any whining issues at all from the speakers? so I don't understand why this new system would be doing it.

after reading around I hear it could be a graphics card issue or something maybe? I dunno I came here for techie help tbh there's my problem what do you think..?

EDIT: actually it is there in normal desktop mode just it needs the speaker turning up very loud to hear it, although once on a game it is just there to be heard at normal sound levels.

I had a similar thing to this, the pitch of the whine got higher or lower along with the FPS of the game. My issue was down to the graphics card in the end; swapped that out and the whine was gone. Everything else identical.

It is unfortunately quite a common problem. Your speakers are picking up electrical interference from most likely the gpu and or the psu which will both crank themselves up when you start gaming.

I assume you are using onboard audio?

You could fix the issue by trying a soundcard, or external dac. A dac will very likely fix your problems but at a cost as they do tend to cost more than soundcards.

Just want to note - the whine was present when using my Asus Xonar DG PCI soundcard, I don't remember whether it was still present when using onboard.

hmm seems a few of you had the problems, think sending my graphics card back and getting a replacement will take far too much time and effort hah and leave me unable to game for a few days, yeah was using onboard had an asus xonar dgx 5.1 that I could have put in but seems to still happen with this in, weird thing is when i plug a headset into the same ports that im getting the whine with the speaker I seem not to get it on the headset hmm you guys think an external sound card would fix that?

Maybe try moving your GPU to a different PCI-E slot? It's guesswork really, but it could be the fact that it's just physically very close to the sound ports on your motherboard. Moving it a couple of inches further away could make a difference if so. Worth trying anyway so save any undue outlay :p

hmm but the the best slot for the gfx card is the top one so not really an option moving it otherwise it wont be in the best slot, just dont understand why it didn't do it on the old old old pc but does now, im thinking i might try dropping my sound card that i have laying around the asus xonar dgx, and dropping it like 2 - 3 rows down from the gfx card and seeing if that does anything? :)

Should be more than enough bandwidth for a 980ti in an 8x PCI-E slot, unless my maths is wrong.

I'd try that, as well as moving the gpu, see what makes a difference.

Let us know your findings! I'm keen to know an alternative solution to this, should I find myself in the situation again in the future.
