First and foremost im not asking anyone to spec me anything because of how p*ssing annoying it is when people dont do any research and expect people to do all the work for them. anyway....

Im thinking about building my own WC loop for my q6600 with the possibility to expand in the future.
I have done a fair bit of research into it myself and looked at a lot of different setups, components etc. but would just like someone to claryify all of the components i will need, e.g.

-Pump
-Resevoir
-Rad
-CPU block
and so on.

Thats all im asking for then i will do the rest myself and comeback with my shopping list.
If anyone wants to spec me any component because of how highly they would recommend it feel free to by all means, it would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot :D

Flare.

I have probably missed something :p

Pump (with performance top, or res top, or standard top)
CPU Block
Tubing
Coils (if that's your thing or you will be being tightly)
fixtures (compression fittings or just jubilee clips etc)
barbs (they will be needed for the res, pump, cpu block etc)
res
rad (rad shroud optional)
Fans for the rad
mountings (be it pump, res or rad)

Fluid is usually fairly important too. A fillport can come in handy depending on what type of res you use.

Might be a good idea to get some plumber's tape as well. It's not essential but I've found does come in handy now and again...especially if using the same sized ID tubing with the corresponding barbs i.e 1/2" tubing with 1/2" barbs. For only £1 it's worth getting.

As well as the coolant you decide upon you might also want to get some distilled water for cleaning and flushing out components prior to use.

One thing I wish I had got recently was a decent tubing cutter. I used a knife for the sake of saving a few pounds although wish I'd just got the cutter to begin with.

Ah yes, fluid would be rather important to have :D

I shall get some tape then, i think my dad has a tube cutter somewhere.

I read somewhere to use 5-10% anti-freeze mixed with deionised water instead of using the UV coolent stuff because that will leave loads of muck in your loops after a while?

I think you'll need some anti corrosion and anti algae to add as well.

It may be better than ending up with what I had a couple of weeks ago with my Feser One fluid. See below.

 Thats shockingly bad!
Im pretty sure im not going to go for UV fluid anymore, just UV piping :D

Thanks for sharing that DJ

If you just go with de-ionised water, a few drops of PT-Nuke stops anything growing or Halfords Coolant Conditioner. I've heard of people using iodine too or even pure alcohol as an additive. My last loop has Feser Black but only because it came in a bundle won on the Bay. Normally, I just add a cpaful of the Halfords stuff as I already have some.

Nope, you just need a tee to the fillport and use that section of tubing as your res.

Can you link me to one please?
Would i use one of these/something similar:

So i have no res, just the tubing and the pump?

Thanks for that, think i will do what you do :)

You dont need a res as stated. Not sure if the logo on that pic is allowed? and unless OCuk sell fillports then no one can link you. Its not hard to use google though. 1/2" T-Piece (Black)
