Could someone please check my benchmarks?

I installed my 7970 today and after playing Shogun 2 i was left rather disappointed. The campaign map would regularly drop the FPS to low teens for brief moments and in battles i still get epic slowdown (like ~10 fps) when selecting 10+ units and during fast forward.

I'm playing on Ultra settings and the slowdowns seem just as bad as did on my GTX460 on High settings. To see if someone is wrong i ran Valley and Heaven Benchmarks and the results are below.

I have no idea if these results are good/bad/average.

My CPU is OC'd to 4.2ghz and my monitor is 1680x1050.

Thanks

I dont think the 1680x1050 res is helping, could be chocking and proberly needs 1080p to stretch its legs a bit

I would have thought a lower res would achieve higher results?

Possible cpu bottleneck. Overclock that cpu maybe?

It's already OC'd to 4.2, i'll try 4.4.

What sort of results would you be expecting with my setup? I have no idea how far off the pace I am.

OC'd to 4.4 now. I also failed to notice that my Extreme run on Heaven was in Windowed mode. Here's the proper results from 1680x1050.

I don't know Kaap, i can't see anything that sticks out. I think its likely a PEBKAC issue but those are always difficult to solve.

Is the card overclocked? Is the power limit at +20%?

The card was stock (1000/1400). I have now OC'd it to 1100/1500 as shown below.

And these are my results

Still seems low for 1680x1050?

Yes it won't affect performance but to unlock voltage control i think you need GPU Tweak with your card. Voltage control will be handy when you want to overclock further.

Oh right. I'm really no OC guru so i think i'll leave the voltage alone.

Just checked goose's last overclocked run against a 1080p result at the same clocks and everything checks out once the difference in resolutions is taken into account.

Good to know, thanks :)
