Hello everyone,

It took me quite a long time to choose every component and I'd like to know what do you think about it.

Asus P5B Deluxe
Intel CPU Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8GHz 800FSB
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB

Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium
PSU ZM500-HP

160 GB Western Digital SE Caviar WD1600AAJS

Samsung 226BW

DVD

Which DVD player would you advise me? ide ata ??
What do you think about the PSU?

Many thanks for help. It will be the first time I overclock a computer :D

Looks good to me but I would personally go with the Tagan 500W PSU, I have the 700W version and it works great! :D
In regards to the DVD drive, it all depends on whether or not you want fancy things like labelling etc.
This drive i;m suggesting is a very good drive for the price,LH-20A1P-487C,.This drive does all the different formats, has a 1-year garantee and Nero software with it as well, but it's a bit noiser than other drives following reviews.
But it's one of the fastest drives on the market, so it should be great for many years to come.
I'd personally go with a X1950pro quite simply because it's only a few weeks untill the new ATI release (price drop!!! :D ) or if you really want that card, then I'd suggest waiting 2 weeks.
Hope this helps.

If you want to save a few quid I would get the 5300 c3 stuff (ballistix). Will easy overclock and will have better latency. ;)

Just brought me 2gb for £82

I would definitly not get a E4300. From all accounts they are EXTREMELY disappointing. With the money you save on the ram you could easily get a e6300 etc. This would give you a lot higher overclock on LOWER voltage (the e4300 need high voltages to get anywhere)

have a look at the asus p5n-e or gigabyte ds3p motherboards and put the difference towards the 6320/6420 processor.

seen good things about the corsair 520w psu as well.

dvd drive might as well go sata as the cables can be a bit neater to help with airflow.

as mentioned maybe wait a bit to see what the new ati cards rate like if you;'re not in a rush to buy at the moment.

I agree, forgot to look at the CPU, silly me :p
If you want to overclock, minimum requirement is the E6300, if you want to spend extra, get the E6600, got mine running at clock speed and it destroys everything I throw at it :) .
In regards to MB's, if you want a multimedia pc, get the Asus P5WDH, if power is what you seek, get an Intel Bad axe 2 (if you end up going with an Ati card of course :p ).

I though the E4300 was really good at overclocking, as his FSB is low (800)!!

I mean we can overclock the E4300 till 3.2 GHZ with aircooling.
So, untill where we can overclock a E6300 with aircooling?

Does it change really something ingame with a e4300 at 3.2gig and a E6300 at 3.2? (is it due to the 4Mb L2?)

I can wait few weeks in order to enjoy the price drop for the graphic card. I would prefer ATI but the 8800 GTS about 200 £ was I thought the best choice.

My budget is about 1000£ I cannot afford more.

its the ease that you can get to 3.2 thats the difference, in general the 6320/6420 will take a little less voltage to get their which will help with the processer running cooler.

My advice would be to wait for the ATI cards just to get a comparison, once you spend the money you really dont want to see the new cards come out and see them wipe the floor with nvidia, get some comparisons first then you can be happy with which ever decision you make :D

as for a spec you could buy now, i would look at something like this, not too sure about the hard disk you specified and whether the AAJS/8Mb cache performance is better than 16mb cache so maybe change that :

Samsung SH-S183ABEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £18.99 (£22.31)
Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 160GB 1600AAJS SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM £32.99 (£38.76)
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £59.99(£70.49)
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £74.99 (£88.11)
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £164.99 (£193.86)
