A random thought popped into my head yesterday as I was driving along and saw someone getting chased by the police. I was wondering whether following get myself into some kind of serious legal trouble whether or not I could successfully go on the run? Simple answer, no I couldn't.

I don't have the readily available cash, I don't know enough people around the country/world to hideout. I don't know the element of people that could get me fake ID's, passports and so on. Also I don't think I have the will to do it, I imagine it would be very physically and emotionally draining pretty much every day of your life.

So could you go on the run? Not as a generalisation of if it's possible for someone to go on the run but you personally, in your life at this exact moment, could you leave everything and just run?

Yes I could quite easily drop off the grid using my family connections & even know a fail safe way of leaving the country that has been open & used for years.
Of course if I told you I'd have to kill you. :D

Probably could - a lot of its in the mindset, when you have no reason to do it you wouldn't even consider doing some of the things required to successfully evade capture - but if forced into that situation the game changes. Most people panic tho even if they have the connections, etc. and get caught because they head down and run.

EDIT: So me specifically - I have no family dependancies - don't think I could leave a kid, etc., I have ready cash and the survival mindset, I know how to make the connections even tho I don't currently find it desireable or necessary to have them in my life - I'd still say it was 50/50 if I could pull it off tho I'd need to be really determined to do it.

I could not at the age of 16. I do not have that much family, obviously no money at hand and I can not drive.

However I think I have the mindset and will power to be able to do it because I am the type of guy who does not get attached to people.

Pretty easily I'd imagine.

Whether or not I'd be happy to, and end up living in a manner in which I could feel content, I doubt it.

Pretty easy to escape to a country with no extradition policies.

I proberbly could if it was like life or death situation like the zombie apocolypse.

Running from the law what would be the point, it would be a horrible way to live.

My wife can read my mind.. She'd hunt me down too easily.

Not a run as much.. I'd like to motorbike around the country just to explore.. not to start a new or anything like that.. just to blow cobwebs but as Adsta says, running from the law.. You'd always be looking over your shoulder. Each time the door bell rings, or phone goes..

I could if I wanted.
Id go to India :)

In a zombie apocalypse, I'd get into a plane and fly around for a while then nosedive, committing suicide.

I reckon I could, but I don't think I would.

My firstborn is due in the next month. I couldn't miss that.

True, spending every day looking over your shoulder and fearing that every knock on the door is the police finally catching up with you would not be a good life. Be better to just accept the punishment so you can get on with life after.

Not while i was in the UK

They would find me in hours. If i made it out of the country (to china/india) then i can dissappear

I'd be pants at it. Very little cash to withdraw before running off in my car and getting pulled over and caught in under an hour.
