Just wondering, all you footballers out there.

If you played in the england team do you reacon you could perform to a good level.

And another question.

What are your best assets in football. Mine is being a very fast runner and sprinter.

Thanks

Mines my finishing definatley.

I dont know about performing, obviously the other players would make us all look better with their passing etc. Main problem would be our fitness I'd guess.

i could.

i like winning the ball, so my best assets are tackling.. generally being aggressive i think :( defensive midfielder.

i prefer being on the right wing, fast ish...pretty decent at finishing

sven.. call me up :p.. nah i think playing in the england team is a much higher level than we are talking about...

unless you are steven gerrard

I don’t think I would be able to cut it not in my current condition anyway. You have to realise no matter what people may think, footballers have got to where they are because they are good, better than you or I could ever be. Funny how people say they could play better than them, literally, when in reality its a load of bull. To cut it at the highest level is a great achievement.

My strengths are probably my pace, being able to run at players and I'm pretty good and holding the ball. :)

I agree with a lot of the stuff you said apart from this.

better than you or I could ever be

That there is what stops you from becoming better than you think.

If you doubt yourself then you may aswell giv eup from the word go.

i wouldnt be able to perform at such levels.

my greatest assests are probs long range shots, positioning and also goalkeeping.

My normal level's pretty crap but I reckon I'd perform to a better level with world class players around me. My best attributes are pace, tackling and passing. My playing style is similar to that of Jan Molby. I'm quite good on the ball but can't really be bothered to move much.

My best attributes are my brain and my passing. I'm able to pick out a decent pass and complete it. Many times I've had someone next to me screaming for me to pass it to him for me to see someone in a good advanced position and place the ball at their feet.

Erm.. if people that claim they could 'perform' really could.. surely they'd be professional footballers right now and not sat posting on this forum.. :p

My best attributes are my first touch and my movement/runs off the ball.
Turning up in the right place at the right time etc... whilst I'm reasonably fit and pretty nippy, i'm nowhere near physically strong enough nor fit enough to play at any kind of level at this stage of my life seeing as I haven't played football competitively for nearly 5 years (finished when I was 16/17).

You also have to consider the pace at which you have to play the game, whilst when you're watching on TV it might seem quite slow it will in fact be much faster than anything you're used to, and you'll have a man on you before you've even decided what to do with the ball... :o

I've no doubts I could perform at that level to some degree, as I'm a keeper so my job is simply to keep the ball out of the net, something I can do pretty well. However, I know that I'm simply not consistent enough or fit enough to be anything other that an amateur. If I'd been spotted 15 years ago and had the right training, I've no doubt I'd be a professional at some level, as everyone said I had the potential. Like a lot of things I suppose, it's a matter of being in the right place at the right time to get spotted, and I never was. Such is life.

My best attribute:
My determination to win.

When playing if I do whatever it takes, throw myself into tackles, compete for anything and everything. It makes up for areas where I'm poor such as shooting or dribbling. I would also rate myself a VERY good passer of the ball.

My attributes probably make me a great keeper at 5-a-side too which I do enjoy. I even have red-scar marks on my legs from throwing myself across the wooden floors to save shots :(

Ditto.

There is a dedication aspect to being a pro - having the time and mental strength to train to a higher level, but there is also an intrinsic skill level that most people lack, and which cannot be made up by sheer effort.

Its fun to dedicate some proper time to a sport and improve your level, but ultimately the professionals are naturally/genetically a step ahead.

Very true, some of the guys I was playing rugby with just a few years ago and holding my own are now playing pro rugby and its taken them to a level above one I can compete at. :(

No-one here could play at International level. I feel 100% confident in saying so. Maybe if picked up by someone when very young and trained for years to get the fitness and skills to do so it would have been possible.

I'm a very mobile centre half myself, love a tackle and playing/running the ball out of defence.
