counter strike 2 ?

If they could update 1.6 graphically, I'd definitely play it, one of the reasons I love CoD4 when you take all the bells a whistles off, at it's core it reminds me so much of 1.3 onwards.

I will throw cats at anyone who says anything but detrimental put downs about the awful excuse for a sequel that was CS: Source.

1.6 is pants! Who wants to play a game with stupid models and grenades the size of a tin of paint >.>

CS S wasnt CS2, it was just an example of what you could do with the Source engine as far as porting older games into it.

CS2 needs to be different IMO - like TF2 is to TFC.

... That's called teamwork and communication. There's no cheating in saying "There are people going this way" and you can do the same thing on in-game chat. It's like holding a radio in real life... Every clan does it because it's not cheating, it's the only way to play competitively in private matches.

In pubs I agree that clans shouldn't stack up onto one team, but I am happy for them to be using ts etc. in a pub if they're balanced onto both teams.

Banning external voice chat apps would be unfeasible and unfair...

what? i didn't say people can't talk and tell each other where they are. its when someone whose DEAD can tell people who are still alive where the bad guys are. you can't do that in real life, in game chat doesn't allow that and it shouldn't.

Can you name me a situation where it would be unfeasible or unfair to stop an external voice chat app? seriously i see people say this and i can't see one. if its a clan match, you're on your clans side, you can all talk because you're using ingame chat, just the people still alive CAN'T hear the people that are dead, thats ideal, theres no way of cheating. the ONLY possible thing external voice chat can add is the ability for dead to talk to alive players, which allows the posibility that they can cheat simple as that.

Also Tefal, how can you possible know how many people ghost in public servers, its unseeable, completely unknowable and unproveable unless you are on those players private TS server.

AS i said, i played on public servers, i joined quite a lot of the higher ranked hlxstats uk teams and they ALL ghosted on public servers and clan matches, it IS cheating simple as that. I joined two of the clans when invited as i suspected them of cheating, they were, i left.

Admins can never prove or know people are ghosting so again, how does a well admin'd server stop ghosting? they can't. only allowing ingame voice chat can stop it.

I always heard them talk about CS2 before CSS came out. I still think it will happen because CSS is just the same Counter-Strike game with the source engine, not a different game.

There's nothing with being able to chat while dead. Communication is the main aspect that makes clan matches so much more enjoyable than publics and having team members dropping in and out of chat would only detract from the level of play and make the game less involved.

This can be exploited to give a team an unfair advantage tho, i know as i used to play CS;S for money :D

yes but you would rarely, very very rarely be dead on your own for long, the in game chat doesn't silence you, it only stops you talking to live people for a short time. as uber said, and from playing with a bunch of the "top" clans briefly most seem to use this "exploit". its basically ridiculous and its the reason i can't be bothered. hey winning every rounds hard enough, to know you're beating teams of clan's on the top servers when they cheat, it just takes all the fun out of it ;p

mostly as you get kicked from servers as you "must" be hacking to beat ghosting clan members. public servers suck as the only decent servers with players that are better than bots are clan servers, they all ghost on them, makes it a bit of a pain. Clan matches, many clans cheat, you're not allowed to but they do, its completely undetectable cheating. ok a couple of people might not cheat but they seem few and far between. theres is ONE single thing you can do with external chat that you can't do with ingame chat, and it just so happens that ONE single thing enables anyone to cheat undetected.

Loads of people, even when told repeatedly just don't see ghosting as cheating which is a joke in and of itself. its the biggest flaw on CS:S, and very easily rectified. no idea why they didn't stop it years ago.

ok, your original post was a bit ambiguous. I couldn't actually tell you were talking about ghosting... Which although a bit of a grey area, still debatable.

It would be unfair to ban external voice apps because it wouldn't stop anyone from using them. It would just lead to people creating new apps that aren't on the ban list which can easily work around the problem. There's nothing valve can do to bad every possible voice chat app. Alternatively someone may have voice chat on for another reason and then forget to close the app before starting the game.

gotta catch train now, might finish this later :p

Nothing you can do about the voice comms thing im afraid. So what if someones called where they died and where they last saw the opponent. Doesnt give HUGE advantages really if you are playing against skilled people.
