Counter-Strike Source Modding?

People are always complaining about my ping and rates whenever I'm doing well. I wouldn't worry about it, normally its just excuses becuase you owned them. My rates I always leave as default and my ping is always very low. Apparently "too low" as an admin once kicked me for having a constant ping of like 2/3 or something saying I had c0cked around with rates and stuff. Some sad people out there.

Rates are just another thing for CS players to whinge about. Along with Reg. If i choose to make a CSS server over a TF2 one, server-side will autokick anyone who says "noob", "lucker, "get reg" and "ffs rates", or any combination thereof.

cl_downloadfilter "nosounds" is a must. Otherwise yous spend 30 mins downloading full trance albums off of some servers.

So when you edit the console the settings remain the same on your system until the server or you change it again? I.e I don't need to enter them everytime i game?

You shouldn't do, although some vars are reset when you change something in the options menu like cl_crosshairscale...

Also if you have a read-only config file it will reset the value everytime the game loads.

Just call a file autoexec.cfg in your cstrike/cfg directory and it auto loads it each time.

And to jaybee, if you have a ping of less than 5, it means you are ping masking. Its easy enough to do. Theres plenty of exploits out there that VAC will not pick up on, and as a server owner/admin, you have to make sure the game is fair to all. If you do have a ping of 5, that is actually the lowest it will go. 2/3 means you are trying to mask a far higher ping.

You can see what the server is set at by typing
sv_maxcmdrate
sv_mincmdrate
sv_maxrate
sv_minrate
etc.

in the console when connected to the server.
