Counterstrike Source - Where is everyone?

So after a 2-3 year break from Counterstrike (travelling, work etc) this evening I installed CS:S, updated and logged in.

When I hit the "Find Servers" button I'm only seeing ~15 available servers. Granted I've got the "Europe" only filter on. But the last time I did this I had 100s to choose from?

What's happened, have people deserted this game in favour of becoming an Ork (level 20'000) :confused:

I honestly don't know. This was the only game I ever played at one point but I stopped playing because everyone else did. I think people just got fed up and found something else/better to play.

your net must have been going screwy or something, i still get atleast 2-300 servers

Check the list filters and all the options, there should still be huge numbers of players and servers.

Yeah something is wrong there are still a lot of people playing it.
But a lot are playing l4d now... And other newish games like far cry 2 and fallout 3.

cs:s is dieing by bit they have to make a new one or modify it. u still can find good servers do but there less of them now

After a quick search with Europe filtered I get a couple hundred.

I'm playing COD:4 on the PS3 quite lot but I'm getting fed-up with naff net-code and lag. Yearning for a mouse

Left 4 Dead looks quite fun although I suspect if I want to play it or something like Farcry I'll need to update my PC

I find I'm getting ass whipped on most servers, sooo many headshots!

I need a n00b server as I haven't played for aaages.

I'm still playing CS 1.6 much more than CSS. Just find it more enjoyable. Last time i checked though there were many servers open still

loads of servers still and i still play from time to time. basically just make your fav servers favourites. thats what i done and now i just choose from 20 or so servers.

check the server browser settings maybe...

If your comp runs CS Source then it should run Left 4 Dead mate

There are plenty of CS: S servers, however they ALL RUN DUST2 24 ****ING SEVEN, PLAY A DIFFERENT GODDAMN MAP FFS!!!!!1111one.

I found this too, with no actual filters running though.

Thought I'd give CS:S a toot to see if it was any good (I'm an old school CS player) and there didn't seem to be many around. Weird.

I still play from time to time and there are quite a few servers still there. I'd check the internet settings if I were you. You should be getting more.

i get loads of servers, around 1000 in the evening.

make sure your doing the search from ingame, the desktop server browser doesn't find many servers unless you leave it ages.

Could try seeing if you get the same results using something like All Seeing Eye.

Not played any CS:S for a while now - not played many games at all tbh - so don't know how many you should be seeing, but last time I did play I still had way more than 15 servers listed.
