Counterstrike Source - Where is everyone?

The thing I find is that there's far too many modded servers, on the rare occassion that I want to play CS 1.6 or CS:S I can't just play a normal server with normal map rotation, it's either Dust2 24/7 or stupid mods.

I played it a few weeks back, after a break of about 2 years or something, found it nowhere near as much fun as I used to. The only thing I found to be the same was the presence of the typical foul mouthed gimp the game always seemed to attract.

I started to lose interest the last time I played when they changed how the map works. I think I played about 3 hours in total this time and decided it wasn't for me.

I don't think I'll ever install it again, which is surprising when I think of the hours and hours of fun I used to have playing it.

Remove HL2.exe from your firewalls exceptions and re-add it.

There may be a different instance of HL2.exe for each source engine game.

Should work then

I played CSS yesturday (first time in a year), and I also have Europe in my filter, there were LOADS of servers.

CS/CSS is awful now the servers insist on running very stupid mods, its all dust maps, all way too many people per server its just a FFA.

There seems to be lots of death match CCS servers. Its really annoying when I dont read the title and join one by mistake.

CS:S is slowly dieing due to the amount of glitches in the game. Valve should have stopped breaking it. The latest one is bunnyhopping. Apparently its intentional. Which is a load of crap tbh. It stopped being fun for me a number of months ago, and I rarely play it.

Ah yes, I saw some one bunny hopping yesturday when I was playing. He got in to bombsite B on dust2 before the CT's!

Another thing I hate is the scripts, like people shooting an AWP and it then instantly switches to a pistol. Or scripts that stop people spraying when you suprise them and they need a new pair of underwear.

Hit boxes are pony. Search for a video on YouTube, it shows you how bad it is.

You should aim about 2 yards in front of the person if you want to hit them.

This game is still going, but noting like 8 or 9 years ago. The amount of server's running CS would be 10 times of what you would find today.

I think they are going to do a revamp of CS:S but not sure when. I was reading about it some time ago.

guys valve went the commercial route and tailored the games towards the masses to suit their business model. reduced the skill and watch the player base increase, no offence to anyone but css is a noobified vers of cs1.6 as is the pitifully slow tf2, compared to the mechanics of tfc it makes me sick.

Just a quick update. To fix the infernal DHCP bug with Apple products and my router - the Linksys WRT54GS. I re-flashed the firmware from the latest official one to the relevant DD-WRT 3rd party version. I now have 1000's of CS:S servers showing.

Now to find out just how bad CS:S has become...

I'm still playing CS 1.6 much more than CSS. Just find it more enjoyable. Last time i checked though there were many servers open still :)

CS1.6 is still going?? After playing since an early beta I stopped playing v1.6 when CS:S came out as my clan moved over to CS:S and on 56k with a crappy machine I could no longer keep up. I thought it (v1.6) died a death shortly after - that was YEARS ago.
