I just got my GPU back from OCUK repairs, installed it, had system boot failure, repaired Windows. Then, when i booted Windows the blue screen that says 'Windows is starting up' (Just before login screen) took yonks to load. I formated, was fine, but then crashed and had a 'critical file' missing or something, so i repaired Windows again. I'm now having the same problem. It's not critical, but it's a pain in the behind if you just need to reboot. Anyone got any ideas what it is?

Also, this new mobo and it's onboard sound is odd. Whilst in Teamspeak, whenever my mic is active, whether by push to talk or voice activation, any sound my pc is currently playing is also played through TS. This happens even when i mute my mic (The switch on the mic itself; not in TS). I've gone through all the settings in my sound controls and can't fix this. Again, any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Both sound like drivers issues.

First port of call is to completley remove your video drivers and your audio drivers. Source the latest drivers and install those. Hopefully this will fix both or at least one of your problems.

Although your Windows installation sounds corrupt - probably the easiest way around this is a fresh install. (Also the quickest if you have a backup solution like Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost)

As for your sound card issue, make sure that just the microphone is selected in the recording options.

It would seem as though you have 'what-u-hear' or stereo mix is selected. Thats why its picking up all the other noise.

Basically make sure it looks like this...

Thanks for the replies. Sorted issue No.1. Problem was as far as i can tell, SP2 was not installed correctly. In fact, it was corrupted. Formatted and reinstalled. Is now fine.

As for sound, i went through every applicable combination in the recording control panel, volume control panel and whatever sound manager is with the mobo (ASUS A8v-E SE - Asus Realtek Sound Manager). If i use an independant sound card, will that override all the sound from the motherboard?

On a side not, what is Acronis True Image and Norton Ghost

For the sound one, is TeamSpeak set to broadcast Direct Sound? Ventrilo can do this, and as well as hearing your voice, others also hear whatever game you're playing.
