Contemplating an iPad again, as I figured I could show customers PDF brochures and PPTs as well as the personal stuff I wanted it for

But how easy is it to put files onto the device to get them viewed again later?

Can you drag and drop, do I use iTunes or is there no file storage space?

It's practically impossible on iPhone, is iPad the same?

As mentioned, sync with Dropbox is good and what I use as I'm a cheap skate, although you do need an internet connection when showing.

Good Reader is one of the most popular apps out there for this kind of thing, managed through iTunes in the Application tab, and allows annotations on PDFs which you may like. :)

Thanks guys

Wont have web mostly so does that rule dropbox out?

Good reader allows me to drag and drop files in iTunes onto the iPad? How much is this?

Emailing myself is not an option, and isn't a solution for something of this expense imo, but thanks for the reply

You can import files into iBooks for offline viewing, so maybe you can do that with dropbox. It does it with iDisk, and it is possible for Dropbox to do, I'm just not sure if it has been updated with that feature yet.

thanks, but could you explain that process in laymans terms? dropbox is new to me

If you're just wanting to view PDFs to, simply import them into iBooks via iTunes, its as simple as that.

Dropbox is simply a way of storing files in 'the cloud', which obviously you will need internet connection to access, several apps support dropbox access, goodreader as people have mention is one. But for PDF viewing, you simply need to use iTunes.

Thanks guys bought one today. You're right iBook works for my needs, and vlc is quite good too

I found iBooks a bit slow when quickly flicking through a large PDF with lots of graphics. Goodreader handled the PDF much better.

You can also select files in dropbox as "favourites" and these are saved to the device.

A little off topic, what the best PDF reader, i worked designing and layout for some Mags, would be good to have them on it.

Stanza is my favourite compared to iBooks and goodreader.

For me it's just a lot faster opening and browsing PDFs, especially larger ones (1k pages+).

A follow-up from me, my work catalogue PDFs which are a couple to 10 pages long, generally less than 3MB don't play well with iBook and are worse with goodreader. Must be how they're designed - any tips?

Pages don't display, cache hangs on clearing and resetsthe proggie. Royal PITA tbh.

I'm not sure what the issue is with your PDFs, I have documents spanning over 100 pages and iBooks handles them brilliantly, not tried Goodreader yet though.
