hi,

i need to write a small 4 page report discussng 'the trends over the last 10 years in the design of fuel systems for gasoline engines'

im looking for sources of information on this topic

well googling Main stream injection doesnt bring anything uself but i understand that from about 1980s the carb was replaced for fuel injection. googling direct injection will bring up the usual wiki page and how stuff work, but im looking for something more in depth about the history and developemnt of fuel injection....
 
Carbs, Single point injection (basically a carb with an injector), multi point injection (proper per cylinder injection), direct injection.

You don't specifically mention cars so carbs are valid as many bikes in the last 10 years have used carbs.
 
well the direct injection in itself can be said to be over 10 years old. is there any source of information (website, book, journal) that discusses the recent development of GDI?

How in depth do you need to go?

For carbs use howstuffworks

You should be able to google the evolution from SPI to MPI.

There should be quite a bit available in direct injection as mentioned its been used for a while.

If it's expected to be in depth then you can go into batch and sequential ignition for MPI engines and ways of stopping icing in carbs etc...

People seem to only be focusing on cars in this thread. Carbs are still used today on gasoline engines.

i think the bulk of the work is probably going to be about gdi. please note im not a complete idiot and i have had a look on google but cant find a good source for indepth discussion of gdi development HENCE iv come asking here. comments directing me to go to google are not helpful.

meesh i think iv got enough about carbs and spi/mpi. im looking for more information on gdi
