Quite frankly I would be happier with someone calling them a poor band - that's about passable as their opinion. However, given the range of music they produced and the boundaries they pushed, calling them overrated is a statement based in ignorance (say, basing their view entirely on Please Please Me esque songs). If any one band deserves high praise/rating, there are likely few so deserving as the Beatles.

To call something overrated is still a personal opinion anyway, it's saying you think the success achieved was far greater than the quality deserved, nothing ignorant about that in my book.

The very fact that the Beatles did have so much success only makes the word overrated more appropriate.

The Beatles achieved so much in their careers - no other band has been so consistantly rated, or been given the freedom to change so *much*, before or since.

lol i work in a beatles bar. with all original vinyls and covers in glasses cases everywhere, all beatles music, there signatures on the walls actually by them.

great band. and great style, even great sounding recordings for how long ago they were produced.
