CPU a bottleneck on this system ?

Cheers Stulid, is the 8350 worth the extra £30 over the 8320 ?

Can you overclock (do you have a good heatsink)?

The FX8320 will reach the same 4GHz speed of the 8350, but if you want to play safe then get the faster one to begin with.

No not overclocked since the AMD barton days and the cooler is stock, thanks for the help now to explain to the missus why we need to spend more money :D

You definitely want to get an aftermarket cooler in there then

Something basic such as a Raijintek Themis will keep the CPU cooler, the AMD stock coolers just aren't up to it, especially with the high-end AMD 8320 CPU's which chuck out a lot of heat

Keep the fan it comes with, it is a quality fan.

If you want a good blue LED or just blue coloured fan then the only few that spring to mind are,

YOUR BASKET
1 x Corsair Fan, SP120 PWM High Pressure Fan 4 pin, Single Pack (CO-9050013-WW) £13.99
1 x Silverstone SST-AP121 Air Penetrator 120mm FAN 1500rpm £10.25
1 x Alpenföhn 120mm Wing Boost 2 Plus PWM Fan Blue £9.95
1 x Corsair Air Series AF120 1500RPM LED Blue Quiet Edition (CO-9050015-BLED) £8.99
Total : £52.78 (includes shipping : £8.00).

I think for none-overclocking the Themis is more than adequate - no point in spending a large amount of money for a non-overclocking heatsink!

I don't, I think the Alpenfohn is the better cooler and fan.

True, didn't say it wasn't better :) However as the OP won't be overclocking, I think the Themis or similar is more than adequate as it's a great quite heatsink and the brocken is about £7 more which isn't really needed, but obviously it's up the OP at the end of the day!

Just get a 8320 and nake 2 little adjustments to the bios and done, you have a 8350 and never have to worry about overclocking again

What games will they be playing? What resolution will they be playing at?

Set up some hardware monitoring programs to see what kind of load your CPU/GPU is at when playing some sample games.

There is a good guide here that covers setting up the Afterburner program to overlay hardware and performance. (it is about testing if Xfire is working, but the overlay monitoring part stands true)
