cpu and board mhz limits

if a board and/or cpu has a limit (as per manuals etc) of 2400 i can still use 3000 and it will work at fine at this speed, the "2400" are more of a supported or suggested range?

2400 MHz is the stock RAM profile. Anything over that technically constitutes an overclock on the part of the memory.

Now z270 and Kabylake (and Skylake) CPU's are fine managing 3000 MHz RAM kits. It also seems from the first post here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/amd-ryzen-7-aka-zen-now-available-to-pre-order.18770168/ That the Ryzen CPU's will be fine with 3000 Mhz also, being able to manage with speeds higher then that.

Z270, all boards should manage upto the 3600mhz mark with a select few reaching 4266mhz.
Ryzen, from the info thats around but not 100%, 3200mhz appears to be its max

thankyou, as soon as ryzen starts being reviewed we should hopefully have solid answers, all i need is 3000mhz
